The song that made me take up the trumpet. Chicago in the early 70's... Gold Jerry...Gold!

This came up on the iPod on the way back to Cali today. It's Michael Shannon's band. Sorry if I ever posted this here.

This might be the greatest live performance of any one song in Rock and Roll history:

<iframe width="420" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/Iy55InDzNP8" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

For those of you who are too young to recognize them, or who have killed too many brain cells:

Verse 1: Roger McGuinn(formerly of The Byrds, who did the most popular version of this Dylan classic)
Verse 2: Tom Petty
Verse 3: Neil Young
Verse 4: Eric Clapton
Verse 5: Bob Dylan, who wrote the song
Verse 6: George Harrison, God rest his soul.

It amazes me that Harrison and Clapton remained on good terms the way they did... it's not like they only shared the stage... and they were friends through like all of it for the most part...

Pattie Boyd must have been one hell of a woman.

Here is playing drums from the drummer point of view (by the way I like Jay Weinberg alot! he isnt as good as his daddy, but I definitely like his style):

I find that Bob Seger is underrated.

I think that I prefer Joe Cocker's version

One of my favorite songs, and while this might be sacrilege to many, DMB IMHO probably does it best.

Me too. Just once, never again. My wife LOVES DMB (because she's a girl), and I can't stand them (because I'm a guy). To make the night more complicated, the Hawks were in Game 5 of the SCF, and I couldn't track the score because of all the people there. The only thing I really remember was peeing in the middle of the crowd because the lines were too long.

LOL...sounds like a good time minus the poor music. I'm not a Dave fan either.

...
Simon and Garfunkel Sound of Silence
Disturbed Sound of Silenced

A (soon-to-be) sister-in-law of my 27 year-old son posted the Disturbed version on Facebook. I broke my Facebook Silence and responded. I think that it's a moving rendition. It adds an anger, edge and urgency to the lyrics.

My son was surprised that I appreciated anything by Disturbed.

I think he's convinced that I'm little more than a dunderhead Deadhead.

I just like good.
