Does anyone own a rotisserie? I'm really tempted by the Ronco Showtime. The main appeal would be the ability to do whole chickens if I don't have the time, energy, or charcoal to do them in the smoker. It would be a pretty easy sell for the wife as well.

My dad has one that attaches to his Weber grill, but not a standalone like that. He loves it and uses it fairly frequently for legs of lamb, prime rib roast, etc.

That's the route I'd go if I grilled with gas, but I only grill with charcoal so it's not as practical. The goal is to get something that my wife will use and she can't be bothered with charcoal even now.

That's too bad, I love when my dad makes a leg of lamb.

There is also this newish place that opened up called Fat Sal's in Hollywood. Had a Fat Jerry on Sat. It was good but damn it was gluttonous.

Fat Sal's Deli | We're Makin Sandwiches Over Here!

Here is the description of the Fat Jerry: cheesesteak | chicken fingers | mozzarella sticks | crisp bacon | fried eggs | fries | mayo | ketchup | salt & pepper| on a hero

I have longed for an opportunity to try Fat Sal's, but I also have no plans to visit Cali any time soon, so I must suffer in my desire.

The Fat Jerry is the perfect sandwhich for my tastes.

I could go to Penn Station for the cheesesteak and fries, White Castles for the mozzarella sticks, and the local hole-in-the-wall for the chicken fingers, and then add the bacon, egg and mayo at home. But we all know that's not the same.

Any of y'all eat lentils? What do you do with them?

My wife uses them, she puts them in certain salads, she uses them as the base of her veggie chili... I'm not the biggest fan personally.

All those Fat Sal's sandwiches look disgusting on the site... Are those cheese sticks on all of them??? The Texas and Jamie look decent enough without the sticks on them I guess... I'll look out for it regardless just to try...

on a related note I def enjoy my sandwiches in a different way than I do burgers or pizza... the more toppings the better on pizza, load it the hell up. I enjoy multiple things on my burgers, onion rings, avocados, bacon, jalapenos or poblanos are all things I enjoy on a burger... with sandwiches, not so much, just give me a basic Italian sub, no more, no less.... when you start adding fries of other 'odd ball' things, you lose me... strange I know. I'm that way with hot dogs too, just give me mustard and onions, or if I'm feeling crazy, add some chili... that's all please.

I am a fried mozzarella stick connoisseur.

There aren't enough gourmet fried mozzarella sticks in the world.

But any fried mozzarella stick is a good mozzarella stick, and adding them to a sandwich has the potential to be delightful.

It's all good, my wife is in your camp... I really am not a cheese guy, other than pizza I can't think of anything else I HAVE to have any form of cheese with... crackers??

Potato chips on a sandwich is also very good, as long as they are just plain potato chips. The added crunch is nice on a burger as a changeup sometimes.

I would draw the line at potato salad.

Making veggie fajitas later this week on that note... amazing substitute for red meat and such. Pretty much everything you'd usually have with fajitas except you take all meat out and use quarter, length wise, slices of zucchini...

Good idea. My wife likes to go veggie 2x a week.. gonna give it a go

Love them.. you gotta braise them. At home, I usually braise it with a lot of root veg but have really been trying new recipes.. Indian food has great lentil (Dal) recipes.

use a good sofrito with a cooked down stock and go from there..

San Marzano tomatoes are on sale, which means that I ran to the store to pick up a few pounds. I'm eating homemade marinara, but I needed to add more tomatoes. I took the thin marinara and spread it across ciabatta that I sliced in half, and threw in chunks of fresh mozzarella. It's pretty good, but is more like a poor man's pizza than incredibly hearty meal. Looks like I know where I'm going back tomorrow.

Chimichurri tri tip tacos and a bottle of cheap (gifted) syrah on the side. Damn dude. Thanks Acamp for the recommendation. Letting my chimichurri steep for a few days has definitely helped, and the tri tip came out pretty near perfect. Considering all I had access to was my cast iron skillets, I'm not sure it could've cooked much better. So much flavor and plenty tender. This recipe is a keeper for sure.

Great to hear !!! Tonight my wife made 'Texas roundup' it's a casserole I assume many know well... Layer of ground, layer of corn, layer of mashed potatoes ( my wife mashed are insanely good) layer of cheese. With some Frank's or Crystal and a bit of ketchup it's a great cheap and easy meal.

I'll eat white dog shit if there's enough hot sauce on it.

I'm not saying that I don't like hot sauce, but do you think that it's always the best? With mashed potatoes and ground beef, I'd rather have just a little bit of cheese on top or a brown sauce

Always. I put hot sauce on damn near everything. The only thing that changes is whether it's red or green.
