So basically what everyone is saying is if Reesus started the NCG, we would've won. Man what could've been.

Nah, but he could have gotten us there all the same. I made a point some time ago to break down each game in the regular season of 2012. People give Golson so much credit for being the starter of that team, but it really was the defense that got us there. There are a few games that probably would have been a lot closer, like the Oklahoma game, but when you consider Oklahoma only scored 13, and Cierre ripped off that big run for a TD at the beginning of the game, you're only asking Tommy to score one more TD in 4 quarters. People also like to point to the comeback against Pitt that Golson led, but we only needed that comeback because Golson struggled mightily for over 3 quarters. He struggled so much BK opted to pull Everett once again and bring Tommy in cold off the bench.

Yes, I realize things might have progressed very differently under those circumstances had Tommy started every game, but when you consider Tommy played against some of the toughest defenses we saw in 2012 and won like against Stanford, BYU, and Michigan, I'm fairly confidant we could have still gone 12-0 or at worst 11-1 behind that defense.

Elmer is a quitter and a horrible human being. He should be kicked out of school and excommunicated from the Catholic Church!

Again, Elmer was up front about stepping away from football, much like how Riggs and Avery were up front with their teams when they decided to transfer. Elmer turned down possible NFL money to use his degree, it's hard to call him a quitter for an exit like that. There was nothing set in stone that Golson was going to be on the bench in 2015, and from what insiders were saying he still had an edge on Zaire in Spring practices. It's highly unlikely he was going to just ride the bench in 2015, he would have split time at the very least or won the job outright again (Obviously after the Zaire injury). He wanted a guarantee, he wanted the job handed to him, so he went to Florida State and he let his teammates notify the coaches.

A lot of us said it was a bad idea to transfer. He was never going to put up the numbers in Tallahassee that he did in South Bend. Golson was a Heisman contender at one point because he WAS the offense. Fisher is smart though, he knew Golson had a turnover problem, so he was going to play to Everett's strengths and take the load off his shoulders. It cleaned up the turnovers somewhat, but it also took him out of the spotlight.

This was Elmer's letter about leaving, hard to fault him: A Parting Of Ways :: Notre Dame Football :: UND.COM :: The Official Site of Notre Dame Athletics

Maybe he chose the wrong school to transfer? Jimbo isn't necessarily the offensive minded type, even with Winston...BK is. I mean it certainly didn't end well with the bowl game houdini act.

Tells me he went to two schools to play ball and had maturity issues at both. He is just not NFL caliber...physically and mentally. Good thing for him however is that degree from ND. That is his and somewhat "earned" assuming he was only caught cheating that 1 time.

I had no problem with Golson transferring – it was the WAY he transferred that has always bugged me and why I put him in a completely different light than guys that transferred for their own personal gain. I fully believe he knew he was going to transfer the whole time. I can’t know that for sure, ut I do know for a 100% fact that his camp was putting feelers out to schools like UCLA and LSU – in January. He then used ND to get more work in, thus taking valuable reps away from Kaiser in the process, even though he knew that once he passed his classes, he was gone.

He also told the ND coaches in their offices, just a week before the end of the spring semester, that he was staying at ND. So like the fans, they too were blindsided by this. Again, I have no problem with him transferring if he thought he wasn’t going to start. That’s normal. My problem is with everything that I said above surrounding his transfer, from people I trust, and the way he handled the whole thing.

I don’t think he’s a bad guy at all, but I do think he made a poor decision in how he handled it. It was completely selfish, and basically an “eff you” to his teammates IMHO. He was never a good leader, and those actions were indicative of that.

Totally agree. he couldn't go til he graduated which was after spring ball which is fine he could have come out and said he was planning to go but would participate in spring ball but not compete for reps

Indianapolis didn't draft the 6-foot, 199-pound South Carolina native, didn't even sign him as an undrafted rookie. Instead, the Colts asked Golson to come in for a tryout.

The reason is that they needed Golson here this weekend to help the practices function.

With no rookie quarterbacks on the roster, the Colts invited Golson and two other quarterbacks — Blake Frohnapfel of UMass and Ammon Olsen of Southern Utah — to throw and hand off. Of course all three are hoping they're impressive enough to earn one of the 90 spots on a training camp roster.

But it's better than nothing.

"It's hard to get into one of these facilities, especially for the guys that you're talking about, the tryout guys," coach Chuck Pagano said when asked what he's looking for from the invited tryouts.

"Just like anybody else, see if somebody pops, see if a guy is able to retain the information that we've thrown at him and then from a physical standpoint how does he move around, can he better our football team, can he better our roster.

Should be a good fit, especially if Zach Collaros is the starting QB (Out with injury)

The Tiger-Cats love them some BK-coached QB's.

On a side note, it's cool to see a guy like Zach Collaros find his niche and become a "franchise" type of player for Hamilton. I wonder if Golson will still be around once Collaros is healthy, or if Hamilton will keep all three QB's on the roster.

Also of note in that story:

Duron Carter appealing a one-game suspension for knocking down the opposing team's head coach in their last game.

What a headcase that guy is.

Wait the coach was fined for flopping? This is ridiculous.
