“Before the game, like 10 or 15 minutes before, I had a meeting with Coach Kelly,” said Jones. “He was telling me what they had to offer as a program for students and players. He then told me that he wanted to offer me a scholarship. I was so happy just to receive that offer. To me, knowing I’m from Texas, they don’t recruit the state all that hard it seems. Just to receive that offer shows that that I am a priority for them.”


“It was great,” said Jones. “I loved it. I really liked it a lot. It beat my expectations. I didn’t know much about Notre Dame before I came up here, but I know a lot now. I’m very excited about it, especially having the offer now.”


“How much tradition there is behind the program and how much money is being invested in the facilities,” said Jones, regarding what surprised him most about the visit. “They are doing it big. If i have to spend the next four or five years here, that’s great right there. It shows how important this place is to everyone, especially the fans and players.”


“Coach sanford said that he thinks I’m a great fit in the program,” said Jones. “He thinks I can be a dynamic player and he loved my film. I’m excited having this offer and having the chance to play in his offense.”

“He said I bring the same aspects that Will Fuller brought,” said Jones of his conversation with Denbrock. “He said I’m a little bit bigger than he was, so they said I could have the same success he did. Just to be compared to him means a lot.”

“It’s very close now,” said Jones. “This is the best visit I’ve ever taken. Baylor is close to home and all, but I don’t have a problem leaving home for a prestigious college like Notre Dame.”


“I’m looking at Cal. I need to visit there,” said Jones. “Oregon, Arizona State. I’m going to take the rest of my visits and go from there. We’ll see what happens after those trips. Whenever I feel comfortable making a final decision and making a 100-percent solid commitment, that’s when I’ll shut things down. I’m graduating early, so I’ll probably completely shut things down after my senior season and after some official visits.”

I am not sure how to take the comment about ND recruiting Texas hard. ND recruits Texas pretty good we just don't end up with many leaving the state for ND.

I visited Notre Dame about three weeks ago, and it was one of my favorite visits I have ever been on. In fact, it WAS the best visit I had ever been on. The atmosphere there is like no other. They have the more tradition and more history than any other program in the nation. Once you step onto the campus, you understand that history is all around you, and that those who attend school and play football in South Bend have a chance to add to that history. The pitch of playing for such a phenomenal school is enticing, and I believe every recruit should visit there even if they choose not to play there. Just visiting there was amazing and I would definitely go back. When I received the offer I was super excited.

Although nothing can come close to Waco, the Notre Dame visit has been my favorite so far.
