Last season was really good IMO, but I can see where some would see it as a too slow.

This season is gonna be absolutely HAM tho.

Being too slow is normally not an issue for me. I just didn't care for the first four episodes I saw. I thought they were rather dull and I stopped watching. I'll rewatch the season eventually, but I've never been into the show nearly as much as others have. That's fine, tastes and preferences and whatnot, but I call it like I see it. I'm giving the show another shot because I enjoyed the first few seasons.

There have been some leaked photos. While this season seems very promising, it looks like we aren't rid of the bad poosy and a horrid Dorne storyline. Can't wait for the premiere!

Ehh probably in the minortiy but so-so episode. Guess you have to in the first episode but I wished they fleshed out one major storyline rather than give 10-15 min each and hastily resolve them.

Area Hotah was probably the biggest letdown of a pretty cool (book) character. Just killing off a badass warrior like that was pretty lame.
The dorne scene just seemed so rushed and I really don't like the casting of the Sandsnakes. I mean they're pretty poorly done if I'm routing for the lanisters over them.

Really forgot how much interest I lost in the show with Stannis and the hound gone. Gonna have to push through until the return of Jon or the Hound whoever comes back first to get me excited. Wish they gave Dolorous Ed more screen time, he might be my favorite remaking character

One of the worst episodes of the series IMO. Absolutely no plot movement at all outside of the shitty Dorne story. I mean that was really bad...

The Theon + Sansa + Brienne stuff was predictable but cool. Outside of that it was such a filler episode. And you can't have a filler episode as your first episode.

R.I.P. Doran Martell's Fire and Blood speech. Hotah gets wrecked by a little girl with a dagger in the back. Doran's most loyal guards are in on it. Trystane turns his back to a person who just said they were there to kill him. Mel is old, fine, but she's naked in the bath tub in a previous season without the necklace on. Best part of the episode for me was Sansa's oath, mirroring Catelyn's and Reek slowly turning back to Theon. Overall...meh.

I hear ya, Areo Hotah's death seemed really quick and easy, especially for a warrior.

Also, Jorah finding the ring in that huge field? Cmon!

That being said, I thought the Brienne scene with Sansa was pretty cool.

The ring thing was fine because the Dothraki circled that specific area with hundreds of horses so it obviously stood out. I wasn't bothered so much with the writing as the fact that absolutely nothing happened.

This was maybe the most anticipated episode in recent television history and it was just horrible.

This really isn't a stretch. Last season she intentionally dropped it. And there was a smooth patch in the center of the Horde's rallying circle indicating they were surrounding something of interest.

My biggest tripe is that if your going to give everyone 5 min of pointless screen time, at least show us the younger Starks seeing how they've been gone for 2 seasons.

Yeah exactly. It literally felt like just an extra 5 minutes added on to the last episode of last season for each of the characters in that season.

Sorry guys, but I completely disagree. I don't recall exactly but how big of an area did the Dothraki encircle? In my opinion it's just lazy writing.

Rewatch the scene. There was a clear circle of about 10 feet in diameter that stood out. We also saw her drop the ring at the end of last season and it's a pretty huge ring.

There are a lot of things to complain about that episode but the ring wasn't one of them.

Yeah it literally looked like a bullseye.

I didn't hate the episode. First of the season is bound to be like this since you have to show almost all of the characters. It would be odd to only show half the the storylines, and that's what you would have to do if you wanted to move the plot significantly. This is a welcome back episode for the huge chunk of viewers that are more casual than us.

With that being said......fuck the sand snakes. That line "you're such a greedy bitch" or whatever it was was bad pussy level bad.

I thought it was pretty good.

Hotah was "oh shit" and then Doran was "OH SHIT" for me, which was nice. It's cool to be truly surprised about something in the show, rather than anticipating which parts of the books are about to happen.

It was cheesy that Trystane turned his back like that. Too predictable by far.

I do not like Jaime reconciling with Cersei over Myrcella. I have hope that Jaime in the books is gonna fuck all kinds of things up for everybody, but it appears that the death of his daughter is supposed to bring him closer to Cersei again. I hope that changes.

Also, I'd love to know what you guys think of the significance of Melisandre wearing a glamour at all times, as is now revealed. Is she not as she appears? Is the fact that she let go of the glamour just a show that she currently feels helpless? At first I thought it was supposed to be Old Nan in disguise.

My belief is that Melisandre will develop from "defeated" to "determined," and her shining moment will be offering the Kiss of Fire for the first time to one Jon Snow.

Telling you guys, best way to get back into a show is binge first two episodes back to back. Sounds like I'll be avoiding a 'wtf this sucks' and getting an 'oh ok, this is great' impression on season 6 by doing so.

I dropped my wedding ring once, knew exactly where I dropped it and wasn't able to find it. I never moved from the spot and only a few seconds had passed.

Ser Jorah has no idea this has happened, is in a field of countless acres sometime after the fact and sees a circle of horse prints 10' in diameter (amongst 100s of other horses) and knows immediately to kneel down and miraculously finds a ring?

I know you guys get it, just farfetched for me.

Is there any character that we know about that would be an old woman by now? Maybe she is actually someone else that we have heard about but was presumably dead?

We are watching a show that has an Army of the dead and ice wizard warriors, men who turn to stone, dragons, interchangeable face assassins, and people returning from the dead. And people are saying that they think finding a ring in the center of a circle of packed down grass is far fetched. Suspending believability left the station a few seasons ago. I am in it for the long haul. Last season started pretty slow and got pretty darn good. I'm willing to bet this season will be the same.

i worry without TWOW complete, showriters (no choice but to) taking too many liberties with the writing and plot lines, and the show starts to go downhill/suffer.
sort of like when the walking dead went "off comic book"--those episodes were just horrible.
fear we have a season of showriters interpretations of GRRM's story ahead...not optimistic.
I blame GRRM...

In the absence of Victarion Greyjoy, who is going to go across the sea with Dragonbinder?

Will Euron get his own part of the show on the "voyage" to Mereen with the horn, or are they going to send Asha/Yara as a placeholder for Victarion, meaning Euron will give HER the Dragonbinder horn to take to Mereen?

Theon and Asha/Yara. Theon is going home and his dad is dead, but Euron is going to win the Kingsmoot.

Ah yeah, I forgot that Euron actually wins the Kingsmoot, and that's why he sent Victarion with the horn in the first place.

I don't know if Theon is included in that, though. I still contend that he meant "Winterfell" when he said that he was going "home."

He's gonna go try to kill Ramsay.

I get that and its a good plot twist. However, don't you feel like he'd be arrested on the spot and summarily tortured beyond measure for his disobedience? Thats the only thing keeping me from buying the Winterfell scenario.
