This season clearly heading towards some sort of massive showdown at Winterfell with wildling army + Jon + Manderlys + some other peeps VS Boltons + Karstarks + Freys (?) ... Ramsay about to get his.

Also, I like how they redid the appearance of Leaf.

As the whole Iron Islands stuff was going on I was thinking that maybe they were going to try and delay progressing the plot much beyond the books this season. I guess not.

On another note, does anyone think Ramsay would have gone through with killing Roose no matter what, or did it depend on the gender of the baby?

Good question. I definitely thought that was maybe the best moment of the show when they showed that little shit Karstark and Ramsay are going to try to make power moves... and ultimately get their asses beat.

1. Such a good episode, and not even because of the end. We knew that was coming.

2. Manderly and his many troops being mentioned was not subtle. Bodes well for the speech and revenge, no?

3. Splattered skull count: 2. Wun-Wun FTW.

4. Ramsay and the baby was messed up, but I really liked when he stabbed Roose. You knew Ramsay was the one doing it, but for just a split second, it seemed like Roose might have been the one taking Ramsay out. I thought it was a very nice, very quick moment of doubt that was created. Or maybe I looked too far into it.

5. TYRION SKYWALKER. You can't tell me that he doesn't look like mini-Luke (via Episode VII) in that tan outfit and his facial hair.

6. TOWER OF JOY GET HYPE. You think they will reveal the parentage right away? Or will they try to get a few episodes of milage out of it, considering Blood Raven is making Bran pace himself?

7. Wiz got to it already, but Tyrion Dragonrider being teased so hard. Is it a feint, or is it just becoming obvious considering the evidence from the books and the show?

I'm guessing it will be one more episode before the resurrection. Figure they will fight their way out of the room tonight with the help of John's wolf and the red woman, then next week fire John up.

Edit... and the 3rd episode is called Oathbreaker. Does that refer somehow to Breinne of Tarth (who has Oathkeeper), or does it refer to John Snow who has not exactly kept all of oaths.

It's one of Jaime's nicknames -- he mentions it to Brienne during his explanation of why he killed Aerys. It could be a sign that episode 3 will focus on Jaime and John Snow.

What a fantastic episode! So much plot development in one episode!

Ramsey killing Roose was unexpected and kinda sad honestly. Killing fat walda and baby was crazy I can't believe they went that direction with it.

Theon leaving Sansa is interesting. They left home ambiguous on purpose I'm sure. Make viewers think he headed back to the iron islands for the kings moot only to have Theon show up at Winterfell realizing that it was always his true hone. Maybe he becomes the person lurking around killing Bolton and umber men in secrecy.

Arya scene was cool. I wish they would give a hint at warging or the cat so it doesn't end up coming out of nowhere. Awesome to see Jaqen H'ghar back, such a cool character.

Baylon dieing finally! His line to Asha about when she sits on the throne makes me think she will eventually be the one to rule the iron islands.

Tyrion is totally a dragon rider. I was on the edge of my seat during that whole scene praying we didn't get the "Oh...." line from Quentyn given to tyrion.

Tommen 2.0 made me a tad less confident that he's a goner. He definitely needs to die to fulfill Cersei's prophecy, but now I could actually see him accomplishing some stuff first.

Love the war they are setting up between Jaime and the faith militant.

Really was expecting Jon to be resurrected in his funeral pyre. Have longclaw be flaming azor ahai style. So relieved ghost didn't have to die in some fashion to bring back Jon.

Robert Strong is scary as fuck. So hyped for the clegane bowl.

WUN WUN FTW!

I think the line about Bran leaving the cave was more metaphorical than anything. I think he will end up warging into hodor and becoming a great knight. They made special effort tonight to mention how great of a fighter hodor would be if they trained him. The leaf redesign was spot on, so much better then last season.

I think that was about it. I felt really bad for the Bolton maester what a horrible position to be put in. You basically know you're summoning fat walda and her newborn to their deaths.

Who the hell is Davos? Is he gonna ask about the death of his King? Acknowledge it? Nah? Just all of a sudden become interested in dark magic and priestesses.

Then we got the almighty Ramsay, No he doesn't just lead raids of half a dozen men to take out the supplies of westeros supposedly greatest military mind or fight off the iron borne's best warriors shirtless with just a knife and a couple of dogs. Now he is just killing his father in front of his most important banner man and messenger like its no big deal. In a world with so many layered characters, it really annoys me to have this one outlier who's basically flawless in all his actions and motives. Yea yea yea, obviously it's all gonna come crumbling down with the battle of 6 armies, manderlys, stark loyalist, nights watch/wildlings-- but it shouldn't have to. If they stick to any kind of political realism and intrigue that the show/book was initially in depth in then literally all of northern houses would rebel, and the Freys too certainly would march North for the murder of their daughter and grandson.

Idk I know I may seem negative but the show (and books too) seem way to dependent on shock effect and ignoring content. Seriously, I already mentioned Davis but what about Sansa? Shouldn't there be a little more dialogue about her with Brienne about her sister? Maybe ask who the "man" was? A women and her newborn were eaten by dogs. A newborn! And the reaction, at least that I got, was eh. And then Jon snow coming back. Maybe it's cause I saw it coming, but everyone did. But it just felt so anticlimactic. The funeral pyre idea seemed a lot better but I guess they don't wanna mimic the S1 finale with Dany and the dragons. But the point is all the over the top "shock" events (kings being brutally poison, southern warrior having his eyes gouged and head smashed) that happen every other episode kind of water down the major events.

It's not all negative though, at least after last weeks filler we got some plot movement. 2 major lords murdered, a main character coming back from the dead, a skirmish at the wall and I really like the Jaime/ high septre square off. I like where that's going. I just hope tower of joy is as badass as it should be.

I agree with Philly. Roose's death felt like a "tv show moment" and not something that would actually happen in the GOT universe.

Good episode otherwise.

I think a lot of it has to do with moving along. Are these characters needed to advance the plotline? Really what you are funnelling down to is Dany, Tyrion, Jon, Bran, Walkers. What you have (from what the producers say) is 21 more episodes (Over 3 seasons) to get this all figured out

Yup. I think the episode might be 50% Jon Snow and 50% Bran/Tower of Joy. The obvious ending will be the big reveal that Jon is a Targaryen.

I get that, but I'm not going to cut the show slack for rushing things in an attempt to fix its own earlier pacing mistakes.

Wouldn't home be the Iron Islands?

As Gattaca said, it's ambiguous on purpose, but I would go even further and say that it's already been revealed. During season 3, when Theon is talking to Ramsay when he thinks he's being rescued, he tells Ramsay that his real father died in King's Landing, and that he had a chance to make a choice, and he chose wrong when he chose to go back to the Iron Islands. It's clear that he realizes that Winterfell was his home because of how Ned Stark raised him.

And Jon Snow is going to leave the watch now that his "watch has ended" by dying. That's my guess at least.

I'm sad Victarion will not be a character on the show. His story is pretty cool IMO. I'm assuming they will just have Asha/Yara take over that plotline but I really enjoyed the whole "I'm going to marry Daenarys myself" aspect of Victarion that Asha [presumably] won't have. The Kingsmoot deserves its own episode.

I thought it was pretty clear the Karstark guy was in on the plan to kill Roose. I think what alot of people have touched on is accurate. While it was kind of an anticlimactic death for Roose it must mean ultimately he isn't vital to the plot going forward. D&D don't have the luxury of thousands of pages to give every character their proper sendoff, they need to start killing off people to progress the story to its endgame.
