Eh it's a long offseason...I'm going to reserve judgement until I see the full plan. I loved Simba but he was a black hole at the plate and from everything I've read Sean Newcomb sounds like he could be a stud. We have the deepest pitching farm in the bigs and a lot of potential pieces to be moved at the winter meetings.Welp since the braves front office is a bunch of morons i hope you angel fans are happy with Simmons. You will have a great ss.

Give it a few years and we will have the best rotation in baseball.
While I'm a huge fan of Simmons I totally get what the Braves are doing. Acquiring a ton of young pitching talent to rebuild with for the future. Just look at the Royals and Mets. Their success has been built on outstanding young pitching. Newcomb has #1 starting potential. As to his control it's not unusual for leftys to develop their control a little later. SS of the future is another Curacao product Ozhaino Albies who in 2017 will still just be 20 years old. Tremendous prospect. If he and CF Mallex Smith continue to develop as expected the Braves will have two guys at the top of the order with ridiculous speed. Both could steal 50 bases. Both are excellent defensively as well. BTW Coppy is an ND grad.
It is too early to say that this is a bad trade though. I've made peace with the fact that we are in a rebuilding era. What we had from 2011-2014 was unsustainable due to budget constraints. We had a lot of bad contracts and we weren't going to afford a lot of the talent that was coming up for new contracts. I did love Simba and his contract was great but eh, I'm willing to let it all play out. Those teams had home grown offensive talent the braves don't Albies will be a little bit better hitter but not as good defensively. Mallex won't play center because he can't read the ball of the bat. Has a ton of speed but even all the braves scouts are saying it will be a stretch for him in center. He offers NO power.
I was ok with the trades of Justin Upton and Jason Heyward after i sat back and looked at it. Atlanta couldn't afford either one in free agency so they loaded up on pitching. The offense is awful and they knew that so they still go for pitching that is 3 years out.
I don't care were he graduated from he keeps making bad trades he will have a short life in atlanta.

Aybar should be fine... Did I miss something??
Aybar must be the first dude the Angels ever got rid of at the right time. They are usually in the business of over paying for players on the verge of decline.![]()
