We are gonna have 3-4 scholarships open for 2017 so I'm hoping we can make the most of it and get some good players. We are in with some good players so hopefully Brey and co. can capitalize

He's not hiring an agent. So I guess this means that if he doesn't think he'll go high enough, he can come back.

I mean it is a smart move just to see where he stands but if we lose him too then next year is go na be interesting to say the least

Good move on his part to get himself more on the NBA radar. Doubt he leaves but still smart to see where he stands.

If by interesting you mean pray for the NIT... This team is lacking size... Getting rid of one of your best scorers will not help matters... I feel like next year we have to outscore teams.. No VJ we are in trouble.. Luckily, I don't think he will get a first round grade so he might as well come back.. Second round is there next year too

Agreed. But he also had his degree, so I wasn't as upset as I could have been. But if Scott came back not only would he have led that team but that probably would have put him in position to be drafted. Amazing how one choice can affect an entire playing career.

Yeah, he'll be back. It's a smart move though, it will get him on the radar of some teams. He was really good by the end of the season and is a sharp shooter. If he improves again, has another good tourney and already is known by NBA brass... then he could drastically improve his stock.

Really nothing to see here with the VJ thing in my opinion. Many people are doing this with the new rule. Heck, Calipari is making a show out of it by having every single one of his players declare. I think he gets an idea of what he needs to do to get to the League next year and returns.

Bingo - Brey's own quote is that he encouraged it. Nothing to lose and I like the mentality it projects onto VJ - be the man.

A 247 article came out yesterday saying we are a dark horse to get Jarrett Allen.

Big news VJ beachem is gonna return next season. Gonna be the go to guy this year most likely. If he plays like he did at the end of the year then it could be another run for us as long as we can get a big man to contribute

If Geben doesn't step up it could be a long, long year on the boards. I'm sure we'll be able to manufacture offense but we will get killed inside if Torres and Bonzie are our two best post presences. Pretty much up to Geben, plus maaaaybe Burns or Mooney.

I agree and I do think geben could be a force. No one has seen him rly play significant time so it will be interesting to see how he does this summer

He played a quite a bit at the beginning of his freshman year. He wasn't impressive.

This is good for the team. I think VJ was coming into his own at the middle of the season on. Hopefully that play continues.

True.

And Jack Cooley wasn't anything to write home about either at that point in his career. There is one thing that I will give the staff the benefit of the doubt on and it is development of players. We will have to wait and see if he turns into "a force". However, I am confident that he will be much improved from his freshman year. It's just a question of whether he has improved enough or not.
