So, do people take this opportunity to thank Brey for his halftime adjustment?

Or, just insult him for having to make the adjustment in the first place?

Probably say a sweet 16 berth isn't anything great because they got a lucky draw with SFA

There was some effective half time adjustments. A big reason we won was the defense was better once Farrell had his cramps and left the game. Rex is a smooth but super quick defender.

If Notre Dame keeps the same intensity from the second half. They have a legitimate shot to make it to the Elite Eight again.

That is a big if but let's hope that second have sparked a fire under them.

I thought the line-up where Colson was the 5 was the most effective. Michigan lacked size down low so Notre Dame was able to get away with it.

I think it was DJ-Beachum-Vasturia-Matt Ryan-Bonzie

Brey made some great halftime adjustments. Bravo to him. But lets not act like we just beat a powerhouse. It was an injury decimated, probably shouldn't have even gotten in, Michigan team.

Admit I signed off at halftime, one of the most pitiful halfs played. Give them credit for the 2nd half comeback, looks like VJ was the man.
With WVU out, door is open for Irish, hope they can seize the opportunity.

Don't watch a lot of ND basketball, but know basketball well, and they seem really bad at guarding the perimeter. Which is weird to me because Jackson, Veachem, and #32 seem like good individual defenders. Too many open 3s.

ND a mere 3 point favorite of SFA.

SFA is ranked 25th by Ken Pomery, whereas we are ranked 40th. Smart money is on SFA, honestly surprised we are favorites. Walkup is a fun player to watch, not sure who Brey will guard him with. I would try vasturia, but benzie and Rex are options as well. He is only 6'4. SFA does not have great size, going to need Auguste to show up in a big way.

Definitely a lineup I expect to see more against an undersized, perimeter oriented SFA team.

Your serve, Syracuse. With Notre Dame's one-point win over Stephen F. Austin, five ACC teams have reached the Sweet 16. If Syracuse wins this evening against Middle Tennessee an unprecedented six teams from the same league will have reached the regional semifinals. It's a good and possibly even historic year to be an ACC booster.

S-E- , er, A-C-C!

Still can't get the feel for a conference thing.

GO IRISH!

PFLUEGER AN UNLIKELY HERO FOR IRISH
Rex Pflueger's tip-in with 1.5 seconds left that sent Notre Dame to the Sweet 16 was his only basket of the game. Furthermore, Pflueger entered the game averaging just 2.5 ppg, and had scored a combined 2 points in his previous 3 games.

Do we want Wisconsin or Xavier matchup wise?? I wasnt impressed at all with Wisconsin

I live in Cincinnati. Would be fun to see Xavier ND rematch from a couple years ago. Wisconsin is the much better matchup though.

Rex Pflueger's game-winning tip-in gave the Notre Dame freshman a season-high-tying two offensive rebounds in the game. He has just 10 offensive boards in his 28 games this season.

NOTRE DAME'S GAME-WINNING TIP-IN
Rex Pflueger, who hadn't made a basket since March 3, tipped in a miss with 1.5 seconds left to send the Fighting Irish to the Sweet 16.

NOTRE DAME BACK IN SWEET 16

The Fighting Irish are in consecutive Sweet 16s for the first time since making five in a row from 1975-79 under Digger Phelps.

The SEC only has "conference pride" because the region has a strong identity itself. The ACC is not really a region even before the realignment, and obviously now is not (as much as I'd love the Atlantic coast when driving down Notre Dame Ave). That said, there is a similarity in the sorts of schools in the conference. For example, ND and UVA are similar in many ways, especially being very good at olympic sports, not too large, academic distinguished, etc.

Still, the league has proved itself the last couple tournaments and that's good for recruiting, competition for the teams, and so on.

The ACC was even more regional than the SEC is today as it was only Maryland/DC, Virginia & North Carolina.. It was regional for the same reason the SEC is, most of it's players in it's primary sport came from a defined geographical area.
