Hopefully an offer while on campus can make an impression.

BYU would have recruited well imo if the navy coach would have ended up out there.

would have related well to the samoan populations.

Is he LDS? A samoan in UT would lead me to believe that he is, which still gives BYU a good shot.

His family is. His uncle was in the league as well. Kid already has a Wikipedia page.

I believe he is now the DL coach at Vanderbilt. Definitely a football family. Both son and father have said how much an offer from ND would mean. Hopefully its more than words. I really like the player.

Apparently Chaz is a cousin, maybe distant cousin but still related, to our favorite Hawaiian linebacker.

Per Loy Ah You and Light had a good one on one today. ND is a Threat here.

I am beginning to believe safety is a position you cannot go by recruit ratings, alone.

Others have mentioned this quite often recently; safety is a position where coachability, and football intelligence are just about as important as physical ability. Or no amount of physical ability makes up for deficits in those two traits.

Examples from recent ND history : Max Redfield definitely didn't have them, so he has been playing catchup his entire college career; Harrison Smith definitely had them both in spades, because after getting shuffled around like a worn out 2 of diamonds, he moved into a key starting role in a much improved Kelly defense.

So if I try to look at indicators, Chaz seems to be well coached, very sound fundamentally, and he plays as smart as he does ruthless. The kid is a thumper, no doubt, but he doesn't seem to be out of position.

Granted, these are his highlights, not lowlights, but his movement to the ball, while maintaining his primary responsibilities seems outstanding.

I say buy! Buy! Buy! I am bullish on Ah you!

Per ISD/Freeman, he came with his uncle and left very impressed with ND. Uncle impressed with Todd Lyght. He should be back for an official as he saw a need in ND's defensive backfield that he can fill. Uncle thinks he's a fit both on and off the field.

Awesome picture in front of the storied Notre Dame DUMPSTER? What the hell? Are there other pictures of him doing the Heisman pose in front of a Porta Shitter?

lol after 4 years there I can only think of a couple places on campus you could stand so that your background would not be drop dead gorgeous and this dude found 1 hahaha

That's an out west dumpster. There's Scrub Pine and gravel landscaping plus he's in short sleeves... when he was in town it was not short sleeve weather, not even for a Utah boy.

“It was great,” said Ah You. “I loved it out there. It was really connected. That’s what really stood out about Notre Dame. Everyone supported each other. There was a closeness about it. It was different. I liked it. It was family.

“They all had a common goal. They intersected well. I liked how the coaches interacted with the players.”

“The vibe of practice was really intense,” said Ah You. “It was really physical. It was the first day in pads and they were banging. They were hungry for it.”

“It was really cool to get to know him on a personal level,” said Ah You of Lyght. “We’ve been talking for like three or four months. It was good to meet him in person. He and I talked about his background and how he’s been through everything and how that could benefit him. He’s done it, so I can appreciate where he is coming from.

“I could definitely see myself coming back for an official visit. It would be really hard to say no to coming back once again. I had such a good time. I’d like to check it out again and see a game there.”

“I thought it was great,” said Ah You regarding the academic presentations. “Everything Mr. Sargent presented was everything you needed to hear. 98 percent of the student athletes graduate. That’s impressive. A lot of schools have 50 or 60 percent. You’re going to battle with guys that are setting themselves to the same standards. That will bring everyone closer.”
