I was just making a slight at BVG. I can't stop thinking about Sheldon Day and Trumbetti being in middle coverage. IDK what size Beal is, and I no longer care. We'll sign some 3-star that was a 'steal' and I'll forget about him.

...A project.

He'll be raw. Big upside. 8 MAC offers with MSU and Oregon, so we think he's big time.

Will finally see the field as a RS JR, register .5 sack and then get switched to 3rd sting TE for his final year.

Yeah I'm bitter. Reality blows.

I find your post inappropriate for this site, and personally offensive.

What is inappropriate about it? There are different admissions standards for people in different demographics. That's 100% fact.

Edit: "standards" may be the wrong word but demographics are a factor considered by schools in the application process. Practically, that means admitted applicants that fall into a certain demographic category may have lower scores on average than other students because their demographic was viewed as a unique positive factor.

Loy may be one of the bigger douchers in the business but I highly doubt Wiltfong is allowing him to put down quotes that aren't legit. Loy quoted someone close to Beal as saying this. Now could that be his mother, father, football coach, etc. That we don't know but I highly doubt this is made up considering, we heard about this when he committed. This hasn't been created out of thin air.

Lucky,

I am not doubting the quote, nor the journalism that went into reporting it.

I am saying that the source may have been bending the story a little for effect. After all we never know anyone (above and beyond recruits harried by every fan base) that obscure their motives to get out from under the spotlight.

Not like someone who just wants to check something out, which many may have a problem with, (After all how many recruits are called wishy-washy for changing commitments every year?), would say something that would get the pressure off by directing the blame, (or even responsibility) elsewhere.

Here is my test : If I really wanted something for myself, for all the right reasons, and my sister is able bodied; if the choice came down to my goal versus helping my sister do her own job, what do you think I would say? Damned straight. Eff my sister! Let her grow up healthy being responsible for herself!

Sincerely,

Bogs

If that's the case, then they've been prepping this reason since before he even committed to ND in the first place.

I was told a few weeks before he committed that he and his sister both had a strong desire to attend ND together, and that was the plan. So I don't think the source was bending the story for effect. It is definitely possible, and perhaps they were just getting a HUGE jump on having an excuse for a decommitment... but based on what I heard from people that would know, they wouldn't use his sister's status as an excuse unless it was truly the reason.

Was his sister going to play offense or defense?

Business as usual. Get over it and move on.

Moving along.

I don't think the 2016 class was "great" don't know if this one will be either. When I think of great classes I look at the 2013 class. That thing was just loaded.

How can you say the 2016 class isn't great? I think it's one of the best classes under Kelly minus last year and 2013. We loaded up at DB, we did well at DE and average at LB. OL we hit a home run, running back we got two good guys, and at WR we got a great class coming in.

Does his sister play basketball? Have Muffet McGraw extend a scholarship offer, she can ride the bench and Beal recommits. Problem solved

Sure if you wanna be what Notre Adams has been for 25 years. If you want to play with the big boys you better bring in the type of classes we brought in 2013. Look I know we aren't far off but we are a couple key misses away from being there

Yea, because Stanford, TCU, MSU, Oregon, Baylor, Oklahoma, etc do, right? So we can't possibly win being those guys. I mean, Baker Mayfield, Connor Cook, Marcus Mariotta, Trevon Boykin, etc. they were 5 star "can't miss" studs, right?

Let's keep going Christian McCaffrey was recruited by Bama and OSU, Right?

I could do this all night, it's so much more fun than feeling sorry for myself and feeling like we have no chance.

Not a single team you mentioned is a Championship team...Oregon made it to the ship, Oklahoma made it to the playoffs, other than that they aren't dissimilar from ND. Will those teams beat SEC powers or OSU? The answer is likely no - not that it can't be done but we have seen what happens in big games when ND tried to match up against teams that finish in the top 5 in recruiting every year. Kelly can coach a perfect game but they just don't have the horses. Granted, ND has talent at the top - as much as anyone. But they don't have the depth. I don't think the 16 class did anything to push ND 'over the top' in terms of their playoff and championship aspirations. Not unless there are some guys that make HUGE leaps in terms of development.

Would you honestly take McCaffrey over Zeke Elliot or Derrick Henry?

I would, especially for ND's offense.

But regardless of the offense, McCaffrey proved that he could be a workhorse to go along with his big-play ability and versatility. Not as bruising as Elliot or Henry, but a little more quick-twitch, which I like considering he could also get some tough yards.

*I will note that you can't go wrong with any of these three guys, so it's kind of a foolish comparison/argument to be had. Henry is a prototype and Zeke is very versatile in his own right.
