Not sure I should even respond to this but:

Like it or not, RIGHT NOW Antonio Brown is doing things Tim Brown never did. His last two years are the greatest two year period of any receiver in NFL history. So that's not a crack at Tim Brown. Obviously Tim Brown had a better career. Duh.

In their prime, Rocket isn't in a conversation with Brown. Brown's prime is the present.

Like I said in a previous post...You can't compare the era Tim Brown played in the NFL to this current era. The game is totally different for a number of reasons:

1. Tim Brown played in a run first league. It's a past first league now.
2. All the rules now point to the offense to succeed. Totally different rules than 30 years ago.
3. DB's used to be able to basically mug receivers. Now they can barely touch them at the line of scrimmage.
4. Imagine the numbers Tom Brown and others would have put it if they played in this era.
5. Tim Brown never had a Decent QB till Gannon, which was the back 9 of his career. Antonio has a HOF QB throwing to him.
6. Tim has a hiesman trophy, Antonio doesn't. Tim was a first round pick, Antonio wasn't.

Antonio is one of the best of not the best WR in the game right now. They played in totally different eras.

But you cannot say he is better than Tim Brown based on statics.

Brown is better than Brown. There, that's settled!

JJ Watt walked on at Wisconsin

Exactly. Another example that fully backs up my position.

Dumb comment, Hall of faker and hiesman trophy winner Tim Brown on Antonio. Did you even consider the numbers Tim Brown and others could have put up in today's pass happy, offensive friendly, not DB contact league?

Hall of Faker? Tim Brown had arguably the best post high school football career for a wide receiver ever. Hopefully that was a typo.

Yes, I considered the numbers old timers could have put up. But they didn't. And what the walk on from CMU is doing isn't just 50 yards or 100 yards better than what Tim Brown did it's 500 yds better than his best, 800 yds over his average. Yes the league is a passing game today but my point stands, Antonio Brown is off the charts right now.

Anther question for you...you think Chris Brown would put up numbers equal to Dieter of he played at Bowling Green? You think Chris Brown wouldn't have cut it at SMU his freshman year? The freshman year where he had the biggest catch of any ND WR in any game that national championship run year?

I believe Chris Brown would have put up better numbers than Dieter at BG this year. I think Chris Brown is a better football player than Dieter. I think Chris Brown could be on any roster in the country. I don't know what the last question means.

All those questions have nothing to do with Dieter being able to play at ND. I've seen guys on the field for the Irish that would NOT have gotten 1000+ yds for BG this year.

Also, is NDcrusader Grubl?

Not in on the IE inside jokes, this isn't my social life.

Like I said in a previous post...You can't compare the era Tim Brown played in the NFL to this current era. The game is totally different for a number of reasons:

You can compare anything. Just like we can argue if Seth Curry is a better shooter than Larry Bird.

1. Tim Brown played in a run first league. It's a past first league now.
2. All the rules now point to the offense to succeed. Totally different rules than 30 years ago.
3. DB's used to be able to basically mug receivers. Now they can barely touch them at the line of scrimmage.

All true.

4. Imagine the numbers Tom Brown and others would have put it if they played in this era.

Sure it would have been more but would it have been 1800? He averaged @ 1000 during his 13 years as an everyday receiver.

5. Tim Brown never had a Decent QB till Gannon, which was the back 9 of his career. Antonio has a HOF QB throwing to him.

At the start of his career he had 2 recent Super Bowl champion winners in Jay Schroeder and Jeff Hostetler. Hostetler had some good years with the Raiders. That was followed by a couple years of Jeff George who led the league there at least once. They may not been all good teams but there were plenty of 3000 - 4000 yd seasons there which was good for that time. Gannon had 5 (?) good years on top of that.

6. Tim has a hiesman trophy, Antonio doesn't. Tim was a first round pick, Antonio wasn't.

Those have nothing to do with right now. I'm the first to say Tim Brown had a better career compared to Antonio's up to this point. All you are doing is proving my point that you don't have to be a 4 - 5 Star, All American, 247 Comp darling & general message board sensation to become as good of a player as guys who are at bigger programs. College and NFL rosters are full of these examples.

But you cannot say he is better than Tim Brown based on statics.

But I can say I'd take Antonio Brown right now over any 2 year period in Tim Brown's career. You may not agree with that, most people might not agree with that but the numbers support it.

Wow transferring to Bama. Guess education wasnt really a priority for him.

Gehrig has big goal of making to the NFL. He's had this goal ever since I've known him in high school. Since this past winter, he planned on being a grad transfer and it was between Bama and Syracuse for him. For NFL purposes, he definitely made the right choice.

I dont want to be THAT guy to nit pick stuff, but outside of the Monday night comback against Denver Jay Schroeder was not good (and the raiders gave up Jim Lachey for him). Hostetler, while I have a ton of respect for him, he operated a run first offense where passing was not his forte (think of the parcells ground and pound teams; he only got the starts because Phill Simms was injured). Hoss did ok, but he was not surgical passer, nor was he the "get 'er done" type passer that Plunkett was. I won't even go into Jeff George, or the fact that Tim Brown blew out his knee and for about 5 or 6 years was only used as a 3rd down receiver (until Gannon got to the team.) Gannon was Tim Brown's only true reliable QB, and while Gannon's overall career might not be that great, he was spectacular with the Raiders. Statistically, Gannon is the best Raider QB of all time.

Yeah i was watching the game and that stood out to me when watching the play. He was fantastic in blocking for this game as i watched him block the rest of the time after that. Those extra efforts make all the difference.

Quan Bray, Gehrig Dieter sign NFL reserve/future contracts | AL.com

Wide receivers Quan Bray from Auburn and Gehrig Dieter from Alabama signed reserve/future contracts with NFL teams on Monday.

The four teams eliminated from the NFL playoffs over the weekend announced the signings of 40 players to reserve/future contracts on Monday, with Bray signing with the Buffalo Bills and Dieter signing with the Kansas City Chiefs.

Dieter spent his entire rookie season on the Chiefs' practice squad after signing with Kansas City as a free agent in May.

Nah that can't be right. Just read through the comments on his thread and you'll see that he was an untalented, no good bum who wouldn't have played at ND.

Well, from the sounds of it, regardless of talent, he wasn't a fit at ND.

Academically, he would've fit in just fine at ND. He just let all of his high school success get to his head and became a very flamboyant, cocky individual. He really wanted Auburn and Oregon offers.

Now, after he graduated high school and got a taste of college ball, I think he realized he wasn't the best in football history and his ego came back down to earth.

All in all, I couldn't be more happy for him. Besides Skylar Diggins, I think he's the only Washington High School alum to play a professional sport. It is super cool to see him play with the hottest QB in the NFL and play for a Super Bowl contender.

Looking back when I was at Washington in 2012, Gehrig and David Perkins basically carried the team to state where they ran into the Indy Cathedral buzz saw. David was so athletic and had all the big time offers, but he just hung out with the wrong crowd. If I had to guess o who would've gone pro between the two, I would've bet on Perkins. Perkins got picked up by Seahawks but fizzled out.

Can't remember the name, but there was another Washington Panther alum who played with the Cowboys in mid 80's...a DB as I recall.
