I was told in early January that he was going to transfer to Syracuse or Alabama and be a grad transfer. It looks like he is heading to Tuscaloosa.
Best of luck to him
Didn't realize he had another year of eligibility
Think Syracuse would be a better since he knows the offense.
Best of luck to him
If I'm ND I'm calling up Demetris Robertson and telling him... "We gotta tell you this before it drops. Gehrig Dieter who's from here in South Bend is grad transferring and it's down to Bama and us. He had 90 something catches for over 1000 yards at BG and the last guy this good from the MAC was Antonio Brown... so we are gonna give him your spot Anyways, if he starts crying tell him to sign right now, if he doesn't cry ... he was never coming.
Syracuse was an option for him because his coach at BG (Dino Babers) took the Syracuse job
I wish we would have gone after him. We lost Greenberry on signing day, Ferguson transferred, as well as Neal. Even with all of them here Dieter still would have out produced them. Hope he has a big year wherever he ends up.
I disagree with this. Without them here he wouldn't have cracked the lineup. The kid didn't make it at SMU. You guys got some rose colored glasses for this kid.

Maybe, the MAC is different than what ND faces each week, but I would have liked to see what he could do here. Once Greenberry left us at the altar, I would have at least liked to have kicked the tires.
You think he would have gotten PT over Fuller, Brown, Carlisle, Hunter Jr, ESB, Boykins and even Robinson. Doubtful. He would have been behind all those players. Robinson would be the number one receiver at Bowling Green and would have put up similar numbers.
There was a reason no BCS conference team ever offered him. Also, if I remember correctly there was an attitude problem with him and his father.

You just can't say what he would have done. There are hundreds of examples like Willie Snead from Ball St. and of course Antonio Brown at CMU that were MAC guys that could have been the best WR at ND on any given year. To say Dieter couldn't have gotten any clock from anybody but Will Fuller is impossible. He would have been at worst a nice back up for Breezy.
The MAC ain't no joke. I'd trade Braverman & Davis of WMU or Lewis & Dieter of BG for any combo of Irish WR's next year. Think about that before you flame.
The kid didn't cut it at SMU.
You are sorely selling Brown, Hunter, Carlisle, ESB and Boykins short.
Clearly I'm in the minority here. So sure, if he signed with ND he would be a biletnikoff finalist in 2015 and 2016.

I don't know if he would have been a star or not, I just would have preferred to have had the opportunity to see what he would have done here. That was a great class, but it was small with plenty of deflections, lord knows we had spots available.

- I'm not selling anyone short. I love ND's WR corp situation but WMU and BG have MUCH better combination of experience and production at the top two WR's for next year.
- I can't say what Dieter would have been... the same as you can't say what he wouldn't have been.
- Antonio Brown couldn't cut it at....anywhere. He walked on at CMU. Right now, I'd trade him for any WR to ever play at ND, HOFer Tim Brown included.

Well, duh! Antonio Brown is 27 years old. TIM Brown is 49. If you are talking in their prime, Antonio Brown could not hold a candle to Rocket. Unless you are talking their pro careers; and if you would take any non-HOF receiver over Tim Brown, then that goes a long way to explaining why you are not in the professional coaching profession.
Like I stated earlier the way him and his father acted at least with his dad on this board and what's been reported I don't think ND missed a damn thing. Plus we have a ton of WR talent and I am not sure where he would have fit in. Matt Johnson also helped him and I know he put up video game numbers at Bowling Green because of the offense but how good would he have been here? Who knows but I don't think it would be the same
Not sure I should even respond to this but:
Like it or not, RIGHT NOW Antonio Brown is doing things Tim Brown never did. His last two years are the greatest two year period of any receiver in NFL history. So that's not a crack at Tim Brown. Obviously Tim Brown had a better career. Duh.
In their prime, Rocket isn't in a conversation with Brown. Brown's prime is the present.
Yep been saying this for the last two pages.

He didnt have a single Big 10 offer out of HS. Not even Purdue or Indiana. He wasnt even the best WR on his own team this year at BGSU.

I think he was, but it is arguable for sure.
They were a fun team to watch this year.
Dino could make some noise at Syracuse, I'm not looking forward to playing them this year.
