Perhaps a new thread is in order? Assistant coaches on the hot seat.

Would definitely be a better place than in this thread. Back to D-Rob, I can't remember wanting to land a recruit more since Jaylon.

Rusty Mansell believes Drob will be in Athens this weekend but they have said that for the past month. Test scores should be back Thursday. Decision in next 7-10 days

Which post? Post 1994 in this thread you mean?

Well, I think most of ol' # 1994 was an honest expression of a differing point of view, except the last two words.

Unless, you are in fact a smug asshole.

But they probably were inaccurate and uncalled for, and for one, I am having a hard time picturing the whole (or hole, if you will) thing.

smug
(smŭg)
adj. smug·ger, smug·gest
Exhibiting or feeling great or offensive satisfaction with oneself or with one's situation; self-righteously complacent:

So, I want to know how any asshole exhibits smugness, without any recognizable facial features.

And I know some peoples faces are so ugly they look like ass. But that is a problem with facial features looking like ass, not the other way around.

And I am having a totally difficult time picturing what body language an ass could model to exhibit that same sort of satisfaction.

I'm just saying . . .

After talking to his Aunt Barbara (UGA fan)...she said it's "Test Score vs ND" now....This is Drob pick, not his brothers...again his mom was never going to visit anyone, just not her thing, too much has been reported about her coming on yhe visit...she has not been on any visits but if Kirby get her to, I'll say UGA will be the school for him...like always, GO DAWGS!!!!

this is from an UGA poster who lives in Savannah who knows his aunt. Basically Drob needs to increase his SAT score by 400 points and not 100 which has been reported. Which IMO would be almost impossible to do but impressive if he does

Also IMO he won't be on campus in Athens this weekend if you are asking after reading what this guy had to say

Starting to wonder how his academics are good enough for Notre Dame if he needs that much improvement to get into Stanford...

Since ND and Stanford have similar standardized test scores for their athletes, it would be amazingly strange if the cutoff difference were 400 points for this case. 400 points is such a huge difference. That's greater than the difference between the Harvard average and the bottom quartile at Mississippi State (where they award academic scholarships for an ACT score of 20).

Mods off topic but is there an ignore poster button feature on this site? I think it would help me out. Not going to name names but I am curious

I just get the feeling someway somehow Stanford will find a way to get
Him admitted.

I wouldn't be shocked, the fact that they'll even consider his application a month+ after the deadline for all applicants shows the lengths they're willing to go to here. Either they're lying to him to help ensure he ends up somewhere else but ND, or they're truly going to break all of their protocols for him.

And it seems patently obvious that they were just letting this one go until they heard he was leaning towards ND.

Got to User CP along the top. Then on the left there should be an option to edit ignore list. Add the posters name in the area and then click okay.

Ha. This is hilarious. Anyways, it was a serious question. Don't see how it's huge news for ND. Huge news for ND would have been him committing on Signing Day.

This could get weird, Demetris told Woody Wommack at Rivals, that he might sign financial aid paperwork and not an LOI so he could still change his mind.

“I’m cool with it going even longer, but if it’s the 17th and my brother decides for me to do it on the 17th, then I’ll go on the 17th, but I can go longer,” he said.

He also gave that quote which just feels off to me. Brother is really running the ship here. He also said that ND tried to push for an NSD decision and that we were the only ones that did.

Taking your time is a good idea, but at a certain point, when you have all of the information (spare Stanford which hell know thursdsy), it's a red flag if you can't make a decision. Burn your boat, kid.

I'm pretty sure a 400 score increase would get flagged. So it could really delay the process even further.

That's such a hard proposition though. My friend boosted her grade by 300 points from 1900 to 2200, but she missed a whole part. lmao. They flagged her grade, but that was like 4 years ago.

For twenty years, Bootleg, a Stanford fan website ridiculed ND for taking prospects with an SAT below 1000 (2 part exam, 1600 max). I don't know if they still do it but for many years they reported test scores and compared SU against Nd and other conferences.

There were many recruits that I tracked with reported SATs in the mid to high 900s that weren't accepted by Stanford even after retaking the exam. In the mid 90's I did recruiting for The Irish Recruiting Journal and tracked reported grades and test scores for about 15 years.

I don't know what Robertson's actual numbers are but I would be highly skeptical of anyone reporting he needs a 400 pt boost to get into Stanford whether it's for a 2 part total or 3 part. IF he needs 400, he wouldn't get into ND and probably wouldn't pass the Clearinghouse to qualify for a Div 1 scholarship anywhere.

Again I don't know his numbers. A 400 pt boost is highly unlikely to be achieved and, if achieved would likely trigger a review ... unless, the recruit had not taken one part of the exam previously.

Remember this is SAT vs. ACT. A 400 point rise would be large, but not impossible.
SAT ACT Conversion Chart | Convert ACT scores to SAT scores
1630 SAT composite = 23
2030 SAT composite = 29

The typical ACT swing is 1-2 points, which is less half of what DRob needs if the reported SAT composite swing is accurate.

However, that does seem too great to be what is needed for a Stanford vs. ND differential.

As much as this is starting to suck, from a pure odds standpoint I'd still rather be ND in this recruitment than any other school.
