SAYS he's retaking SAT's. Perhaps an excuse to get out of the Bama visit.

Like I said last week, I've been skeptical that he visits anywhere from then to NSD. I think he's been coming up with excuses to not visit Bama for a while now and this is just another example. However, the recruiting world fails to believe that Bama could ever lose a recruiting battle so they chose to believe it was because he wanted to be there for the NC parade. Stating the obvious but this is huge news.

Am I overthinking this? I think the kid really wants to go to Stanford, and that's why he's retaking the SAT. I understand canceling the Bama visit is huge news for us, but I feel like it's his attempt to get into Stanford. Again, I may just be overthinking this.

If you're reading tea leaves, then please keep in mind that he's never visited there, he wasn't even invited to their big recruiting weekend last week. He may not have thrown in the towel, but the leaves seem to read that Stanford has...

How was I to know he preferred the caramel frappuccino over the cafe latte? Better check my contacts a little closer next time.

The best part about being an Alabama fan is the total indifference you can have to swings in recruiting. There is 100% confidence that its all going to work out whether we get this kid, or that kid. QB is the one exception.

When was the last time a Stanford coach has been out to see him? That ships sailed. We win. I'm going drinking. Who's with me?!

Oh... don't get me wrong. I would love to have DRob in this class. He is a game changer at any program. As far as this year's class for Bama... it is not trending well at the moment. Will be interesting to see how the Tide closes.

Same. It'd be amazing to have 3-5 5 stars every cycle, couple that with the remaining players being handpicked. If Bama doesn't close strong, this will be the first year in like 5, that they didn't end with the number one overall class.

I guess you can take 1 year off out of every 5 and it'll still probably work out alright.

All that to say, if we sign the 2-4 players we hope for on NSD, then we'll finally have a small idea of what it's like to bring in a class like Bama.

I count seven spots remaining for the 2016 class, which already has nine four or five stars. (Seventeen verbals and Bell).

But when you can possibly finish with the #1 ILB (Ben Davis), the #1 & #2 Athletes (Shyheim Carter, Mecole Hardman), the #2 OLB (Lyndell Wilson), the #3 SDE (Jeffrey Simmons) and the #6 WDE (Terrell Hall), it promises to trend well. Who'll take the seventh spot? Robinson? Not a lot of room.

Eight of Bama's nine verbals for 2017 are four or five stars, which gives some comfort to Bama fans in these times of distress.

Earlier, when posts were about DRob, someone talked about day one starter, etc. Then, someone mentioned something about him having a Freshman year like Golden Tate or Michael Floyd.

You can never say how long it is going to take a great first year player to adjust. Bob Crable is the best example I can think of off of the top of my head. As the all time ND leader in tackles with 521, which includes a game against Clemson which his 26 tackles still remains tied for number one in single game stops, Bob had a tough go of it his freshman year. 13 tackles. He was such a highly regarded recruit that more than a few eyebrows raised. Things didn't start to click for him until midway through his sophomore year.

All that notwithstanding, I can see him taking the top off defenses from day one. And that will put him in a position to excel with the quarterback, other outstanding threats, and line-play we can expect next year.
