I don't think you can definitively say this hurts or helps us, in the same way you can't say this will hurt or help the Big12.
An undefeated Big12 champ gets in under the current format. If they go to a CG format, an undefeated Big12 champ has to cross one more hurdle. A loss in the CG eliminates a team that would have been in without a CG.
On the other hand, a 1-loss Big12 champ is probably 50/50 depending on the other conferences under the current format. Some years the Big12 CG will serve as another hurdle and in other years it will serve as an opportunity.
For example, in 2014, a CG would have helped the Big12 because it would have provided a 1-loss champ that would have most likely gotten in over Ohio State. They needed a CG to get in. In 2015, 1-loss Oklahoma was in without a CG. They didn't need it and if they had lost, the Big12 might have lost its playoff spot to Stanford (or 1-loss ND if we had beaten Stanford).
One thing that's undeniable is a CG would bring in $$$. I heard yesterday $25-30MM.
I agree with those that have said a CG isn't needed based on their current round robin format. I think this is a tough decision for the Big12.
If all major conference's have a CCG (If Big 12 does it) they will consolidate power even more . This would not be a good development for us
Do think the conferences all nice and uniformed would like ND to crash there party? 5 major conferences and only 4 spots, we would be a danger to them. No way to spin it as a positive development.Hmm, I'm not buying it and failing to see how a CCG would aid the power 5 conferences in consolidating power even more. Could you explain?

Now if it's us versus BYU for that last playoff spot we're a lock.
You don't think with all majors now having CCG the will put more emphasis on them(which they already do)? The cards are getting stacked more and more. We'll see if we expand to 8 which will take care of all this.Ok, but how is that any different than the current setup? Uniformity doesn't change anything. It's still 5 conferences for 4 spots and we're still a danger, just as we were before this development.
And to the bolded, I'm not arguing it's positive or negative. It's status quo and I disagree with those that say it's a bad development for ND, just as I'd disagree if people said it was a good development. It just is what it is. It'll help in some years and hurt in others.

Lol. They have a round robin and all play one another and there are no divisions. How does this work? Way to go NCAA.
Maybe they look into expansion again, knowing a CCG is pointless after playing round-robin?

I still like current setup with 4 teams getting in, but if need be my vote is go to 6 not 8 with top 2 getting a bye. would set up nicely for us I think.
also, the regular season NEEDS to matter.
We should join the PAC 12, that way we don't lose Stanford and USC. I realize this would never happen, but keeping those two games + Navy and joining a different conference is redonc. I bet PAC 12 would take us, btw.

I heard someone on ESPN earlier today saying teams like Cincy, BYU and Houston just lost some of their leverage. Expansion = more slices of the revenue pie = less $$$ for current members.

Individually UT, TCU and Baylor don't want Houston or Rice in the Big12 from a football / basketball / baseball point of view but Houston and a smart second choice like Memphis, Cincy or BYU for example brings another good market and control of Houston who they now share with A&M and another conference. Having a team IN Houston means more than having fans of all the schools there when negotiating broadcasting deals. In the end, does adding the Houston market and one of the others raise your total income 20%? If so, the pie pieces remain the same. It's all about TV's and Radios... ask Rutgers.
Conference Title game and now Texas Tech AD becoming the playoff Chairman.... big 12 won't be left out again
