I think he is the #1 recruit in the country. Huge pick up for Tenn... Butch has things going in the right direction. Even if he ends up having a career similar to Weis, he's recruiting so well the next coach will do well there.

Come on Rich Rod!

God I hate UTjr and there fans

UT's and their fans aren't bad. I've been there for a ND game and they were respectful and enjoyed the Irish fans. Was at the game in SB when Zibby went crazy and the UT fans were once again respectful. The practically bought out the bookstore.

I think he's really really good but I have a hard time making a DT the best player in the country especially when there are some pretty elite DE's and QB's

Louis Nix took a notice to him.

Shared a vine of McKenzie just obliterating a kid twice with the caption "OMG"

I agree. Of all the SEC, and southern more schools, U of Tenn has fans above and beyond. If you look at schools around them, Ky, Wva, Marsall, etc., there is no comparison!

I live in Knoxville. Their fans are obnoxious and self glorified. They think UT has more tradition then any school in the country. They think they deserve the best and think its ESPNs fault they cant get better coaches. They just signed a god damn letter mid season to fire Cuonzo Martin. 60,000 of them!! For a coach that won 20 games a year and that his players publicly came out and said they loved. They begged for the fans to stop. It was a disgrace. Their fan base is shit.

As bad as Bama and Auburn? Probably not. But living here and visiting here are two different animals.

^ This. All of this.

Those that laud UTjr are misguided or have never spent much time in the area.

Recently, the only thing that separates Tennessee fans from Alabama, Auburn, etc. is the fact that they have had a prolonged run of shitty football. The fans have had to eat a giant helping of humble pie because their team has sucked and been irrelevant for about an entire decade.

If/when they become a power on a consistent basis again, they'll regain their spot at the top among Kentucky b-ball fans, Alabama football fans, Ohio State football fans, Boston whatever teams.

I can't believe how much this kid has grown in the last two years. He will be a top 5 player on rivals and 24 7 soon too.

Nation's Number Two Football Recruit Ruled Ineligible

At the time of the transfer, NCS commissioner Gil Lemmon, said that students transferring from private to any public school — Charter or otherwise — still have to meet exhaustive and strict rules. The most important is that a transfer cannot be "athletically motivated." If deemed so, then no matter if there's a change of residency or not, Lemmon can rule a student athletically ineligible for up to a school year.

Evidently, Lemmon decided the transfer was athletically motivated, thus McKenzie was ruled ineligible on Thursday for the season. When contacted Thursday, Lemmon said he could not address specific eligibility cases, and directed questions to Clayton Valley.
I'm sure the rule exists for a good reason, but this is a young man whose future is likely as a football player, and we're talking about not letting him play football for a year. That's not a small thing. No one ever tells future chemists that the don't get to be in a lab for a year.

Hopefully, there's an appeals process, he can play somewhere else, or a more sensible decision can be made. Also, the young man's father is Oakland Raiders general manager Reggie McKenzie, so hopefully, he has someone else he can ask for help.

Whoever said this is stupid. The purpose of the rule is to prevent students from being sports first and prevent schools from recruiting. On the contrary, there is no rule against being chemistry first or recruiting chemistry nerds.
