I believe the staff would love to close with one of Kelly or McCulloch (or both) and Robertson. Lax, in your latest update you removed Ferns and Velus Jones Jr. I thought there were 11 names listed before and now there are 8. Who am I missing?

Also, why did you remove Velus Jones? Is he not visiting anymore?

Finally, I think there should be another category at the bottom titled "Guys we have no shot at but are currently scheduled for an OV this month", which would include Ben Davis.

I removed Velus Jones because I hadn't been hearing anything to suggest we're seriously in play there anymore. The other name I removed I believe was David Long, because he is set to announce between Michigan and Washington.

Not sure if this is true or not, or if it historically produces results, but I feel like in the past we've had a lot more prospects on campus in January. With that said, as long as we land 1-2 LBs, I couldn't be happier with this class.

I think the big reason for such few January visits is for the first time in a long time we aren't scrambling to fill spots. We already have a great class and now just going for the cherry on top. I personally think this is the best year of recruiting this staff has done.

I'm pretty sure that's expected, not lucky. We are heavy leans for both, and according to sources gathered from LAX, we lead for McCulloch (however, he still has an OV to Texas).

I understand that we are very close to getting them both and I am excited about getting the two. But I just don't think we can close out with the others.

Seems right, but I wouldn't go as far as saying we're in the top 2 for DRob just yet, but who knows.

Big picture, either way this goes, this is a good class overall and I'll be happy with it. However, this could either be the best NSD we've had in a very long time or we could finish as bridesmaids for a few really really good players.

Under Holtz, recruiting visits essentially ended with the Banquet in early Dec. Davie, et al actually expanded January recruiting.

January weather in South Bend generally isn't conducive to impressing kids from the West Coast and South. ND also in on semester break in early January and the coaches want prospects and parents to interface with students and faculty. This year I believe classes begin again on Jan 12th.

Weather and an empty campus are the primary reasons ND doesn't plan many vistors in January.
