This team has shown all year effort isn't an issue. Will they win? Probably not but they will show heart and get back into it. I'd love to see Morgan get some reps and keep up that tempo with DK running some. Going to be uphill but I'm sure they will put out a great effort. This defense is going to kill me.

We fire BVG and hire Nick Saban as our DC with Kirby Smart, Will Muschamp, and Mark Dantonio as assistants

BK, on his way into the locker room - "We'll coach them up at halftime and we'll play better in the second half"

You mean you are waiting for halftime of the last game of the year to coach your reserves? What do you have them doing all year? Playing Xbox?

Nitpicking on his comments but I am pissed. He looked uncomfortable in that interview and I don't think he has confidence the defensive problems will be corrected for the second half.

say that again.. I'm confused

I don't think ND should keep him, but I mean with avalanche of injuries it's unlikely he gets let go. Also, the way hiring and firing works in college, unless he wants to leave, he would have been let go at the end of the season and a new DC would have been hired. Also, some would argue that his best years have been year 3 of his defense, when guys can grasp all the concepts. I think he's too exotic for his own good. I mean I've said he should go numerous times, but I just don't see it happening before next season.

Thank you for your honest input and I couldn't agree more with what I bolded above.

I always try and give a coach 3 years. He runs a total different scheme and needs his type of players...which we seem to be recruiting. If he cannot do better next year with "his" guys then he needs to go.

Poor tackling which isn't on the DC but are still guessing too much. Wide open gaps are due to guessing. We 're stacking one gap and they are running another. Injuries, BSA, out the guys in the right place.

It's insane what this defense is running on... We're spitting fumes at this point. Jarron, Max, Keivare, Jaylon, Jerry, Tevon... Etc etc

What do you guys expect BVG to do with that? I do have a problem with preparation though. Back up players seem completely lost at times.

But as far as game day play calling for BVG, it's not like he has too many go to options.

ND has made some good second half adjustments this year.. I doubt we'll win, but I do think we'll look a little better at least on O.

Has Daniel Cage played at all today?

You may have missed him.. He's been dropping back in coverage

BK mentioned having to play reserves and them not being ready, which was shocking to admit but I think that is his personality.

I took exception to the comment because as coach you shouldn't admit that on national TV (as much as I admire his honesty) and also because his team should have been better prepared. Reserves need to understand the system and plug in when needed. Plus you gotta rotate your defense during the season so guys know how to play in the last game.

Make sense now ?

- He is showing zero signs of improvement scheme wise.

- IMO his development of players is below average.

- He continuously takes players out of plays by blitzing.

- His Rex Ryan scheme is not a good fit in college football, Hell it doesn't even work for Rex.

I could go on but I don't think BVG getting his guys is the problem.

BVG makes no adjustments whatsoever. Regardless of injuries put the kids in the best position to succeed. Bottom line is he doesn't do that. Our guys are running around pre snap like chickens with their heads cut off. We play tentative evacuee we don't know what to do and have too many reads. If this then that is not he way to play defense. Look at OSU. Those kids fly around.

Exactly. Let's see If we can figure out the pawns before the knight swoops.

Agree. We will need to get a couple stops this half and Offense has to score on almost every drive. They start with the ball in 2nd half.

If it was one game where the defense struggled, sure i'd see your point, but the criticism comes from the entire body of work.

Here is my couch coaching desired halftime adjustments:

1. Sit Schmidt. I don't care if he has no backup because of injuries. Adams looked better on his 1 tackle than Schmidt has ever looked on any tackle.

2. Spread formation the entire half. We are loaded at WR, OSU plays a lot of man. There is bound to be at least 1 WR open down the field.

3. Tell Kizer to run the fucking ball more. If there are no open WRs, and there is some clearing, get your ass moving down the field.

4. BVG, you're fired. I don't care if we still have a half left. Joe, our D can't line up with you off the field, and we suck with you on it. We'll split the difference and you can call plays from the sideline.

5. Onside kick to start the half. LETS FUCKIN GO.

Frustrating first half to watch.

Obviously nice to score before halftime but I have zero confidence in the defense stopping anyone in the second half. OSU is essentially doing whatever they want on offense.

I'm almost physically sick for Jaylon. I know that seems extreme but it's so hard to see that happen.

I'm not on the fire any coach wagon, but it would be nice to see some improvements in the second half.

That is fair, but what is also true is that ND has more depth on defense than I can remember in recent history. A lot of it is young but that's why you rotate some of your younger players to get them experience. Someone posted earlier this year that the defense had been overplayed during the year and the backups weren't getting as many reps as they probably should have. That results in having less experience when injuries occur, as we are seeing now.

It chaps my ass that people will give BVG a free pass because of the injuries and will use it as an excuse. There is enough talent out there to not get absolutely gashed two games in a row. Adjust your scheme Quit dropping defensive linemen.

We will hear the same excuses from him next year with a young defense.
