No, the point is, why should he spend 3-5 years in cold weather when he doesn't have to? If he gets drafted by a pro team in a cold weather city, that still doesn't mean he should have gone to a cold weather school. If you have spent most of your life in a warm weather climate and don't like cold weather, and you can go to a very good school (USC sells great academics even if their football players take easy courses) right down the street from your house, why would you go to a cold weather school?



There's a reason why so many people move to CA, TX, AZ and FL et al. Not sure why so many people think he's a pussy for admitting to hating the cold, especially when this very site has a thread dedicated for bitching about the cold lol. To each his own. Seems like a good kid too...

The cost of travel I'll agree with. The ladk of exposure thing could be argued. Some players will just be happy knowing they can play past HS knowing they'll never go to the NFL

That is correct, though few people choose to live off campus until senior year (arguably junior year). Though with shit like this: Man Convicted in Shooting Deaths of 2 USC Students | NBC Southern California happening near USC's campus on the reg, I wouldn't exactly want to live off campus there either.

My buddy's roommate at college right now is from India. It's not easy for them to live together. It's not because they don't like each other, but because the cultures are very different. Betiku not wanting to live with Americans doesn't necessarily make him a racist, it could simply be that he hasn't assimilated very well. It seems pretty understandable.

FWIW most ND football players only officially "live on campus", but they'll also sometimes live together in an off campus apartment unofficially.

It only sounds racist because we're used to people saying it to people who aren't actually from Africa, and making a judgment due to race. In this case it's a response to a person from Africa saying they don't like being too close to Americans, which feels a little offensive of itself. It's a response to a statement. Judging someone by their ideas is the opposite of racism.

If you say you don't feel comfortable with the people of the country which you chose to immigrate to, you can't be surprised when that isn't a welcome sentiment.
