I can't wait to see Jarron Jones. He's better than Sheldon Day IMO. Both are great college players. I want to see a lineup of Jarron, Day, with Trumbetti and Rochelle on the ends for a few plays. That's a BA front 4.

If Jarron produces next year like Day did this year, then you might get me over to this side but as of now its been very spotty production with the expectation that it will become more consistent at some point. Give me Day 24/7. Jarron might have more upside but he surely isn't the better player right now.

You know someone was gonna be like:
"The Germans did not bomb Peral Harbor." Haha. Happens once a year yes?

Nick will get burned a few times but I also think there is a great chance he will get an interception based on his athleticism so it may even out.

I have to agree with Wooly here. First ND isn't a school that will cut your scholarship over this type of infraction. But we are also a school that can't afford to cut scholarships we are barley at 85 now. And he does seem to be a very good student which is what we all want.

No if the on of the freshman come in fall and beat him out sorry bout his luck but we could still use him against running teams and on special teams. There would still be a spot for him. Not to mention it is still depth in case someone did go down with an injury.

I said nothing to the effect of cutting Redfield from the team, Wooly somehow misunderstood the phrase "cutting our losses" to imply cutting Redfield from the team, which I was not calling for.

Cutting your losses-
"to extricate yourself from an impossible situation, where there is very little or no hope for improvement."

What I was try to convey is that Redfield is not the teams future at S and he should be benched. (my opinion)
Not cut from the team, not losing his scholly, just losing his starting S position, very similar to the calls for Joe Schmidt to have been replaced.

That's all, nothing more, nothing less.

-and now back to your regularly scheduled thread topic-

He was much more inconsistent than Sheldon was last year, but when he was dialed in he manhandled linemen. He owned Florida State for a lot of that game. If he can stay healthy next year, I'm not sure anybody is gonna run on his and Rochelle's side.

I was thinking about this to myself earlier, but the guys you mentioned were all being punished in terms of the team for team-related transgressions.

Elliot was driving on a suspended license, which isn't necessarily a malicious or "disrupts the team" thing.

To be fair, Elliot's infraction happened before Kelly started the precedent of sending players home.

Elliott was driving on a suspended license apparently not aware it was suspended. Crashed a care with I believe 2 other team mates in it... You know, shouldn't be driving. Suspended license thing.. I know, the details don't matter much.

If he had a suspended license, he had other violations. So at a minimum he had been corresponding with the DMV. At some point he would have been informed that his license was suspended, no?

Oh well, I'm sure his judge will be an OSU fan and he will let him off because "he didn't know it was suspended."

A few years ago I got a speeding ticket and sent in the payment (or so I thought). About a year later, I was pulled over again for speeding and informed that my license had been suspended for the past 6 months. Similar to a college kid, the address on my license was different than where I was living so I never received the notification in the mail. I was able to plead ignorance and the officer let me go.

Not trying to defend EE, but it's not that serious of a violation.

Edit: Let me clarify the "it's not that serious" comment...Obviously there are some situations where driving on a suspended license is very serious (e.g. repeat DUI offender, judge takes away license for reckless behavior, etc). Driving on a suspended license because you failed to pay a speeding ticket is not that serious. I'm going to go out on a limb and assume EE's license was suspended for something similar to the latter than a "serious" driving offense.

What I'm saying is that it would almost be like suspending the kid because he had an unpaid parking ticket. He wasn't being negligent, whereas these guys getting themselves suspended are consciously making poor choices.

I would say that driving on a suspended license AND crashing car with team mates in it is conciously making a bad choice.

Getting into a car accident is consciously making a bad choice?

A DUI is a bad choice. Wreckless driving is a bad choice. Missing curfew when you're on the road for a football game is a bad choice.

Hydroplaning your car and then finding out your license was suspended isn't a conscious bad choice. And if his license suspension was a serious issue, wouldn't he have been in jail or something?

Didn't he leave the scene? That's a poor choice and tells me he probably knew his license was suspended.

I don't think that he left the scene. Very early on, when the rumors were first coming out about Elliott's accident, there was some speculation that he did. Since that point, I've heard nothing about him leaving the scene and he was not cited for that either.

Or not allowing him to be a team captain his senior year for the same reason.
