These things have a way to bring out the best in teams like ND who are a "team". I won't be surprised if we see the best defensive effort of the year.

I may be in the minority on this but I think the coaches need to move on and start looking for a long term replacement for Redfield. He hasn't lived up to the 5* hype and has been more of a liability than anything else.
Sound harsh, but I think we need to cut our losses and move on.

I agree. If we have someone better, they need to be on the field. Stars shouldn't matter once they hit campus.
As soon as I posted, I knew someone would jump in and say that. Was just too lazy to change it to "season". lol
What can I say, I'm an ass. Lol

What does this even mean? Kids are only get to play four seasons of football, so the coaches are always grooming a replacement for every position. Max is no different.

I don't know what you mean by "cut our losses". Max hasn't got into real trouble, struggled with academics or done anything worthy of getting "cut", which is something we don't do. We aren't going to tell a kid to pack his bags just because he hasn't lived up to his hype yet. Is that what you are inferring?

I feel pretty optimistic about Watkins at CB. Loved him out of HS. He may end up starting next year over Butler anyway. Either way I think the keys are stopping the run and not letting up that one huge play. On offense its all about the O line. Protect DK and I think we can score enough to win. Oh - no turnovers would also help. Cannot wait for Friday.

Haha, are you for real? You REALLY you thought I meant to cut him from the team....???

Cutting your losses-
"to extricate yourself from an impossible situation, where there is very little or no hope for improvement."

*How about this- Redfeild sucks, bench him and find a new S going forward.

*-This is my opinion.

Or a dare to OSU. Also letting Nick know he needs to be dialed in and have his crap together.

I think it's just an obvious fact with no intention of misguiding. Nick hasn't played any meaningful snaps this year.

As Frued once said, sometimes a cigar is just a cigar.

I have to agree with Wooly here. First ND isn't a school that will cut your scholarship over this type of infraction. But we are also a school that can't afford to cut scholarships we are barley at 85 now. And he does seem to be a very good student which is what we all want.

No if the on of the freshman come in fall and beat him out sorry bout his luck but we could still use him against running teams and on special teams. There would still be a spot for him. Not to mention it is still depth in case someone did go down with an injury.

Or deflecting attention away from the one really glaring weak spot of the defense we have spent all season complaining about.

I can't wait to see Jarron Jones. He's better than Sheldon Day IMO. Both are great college players. I want to see a lineup of Jarron, Day, with Trumbetti and Rochelle on the ends for a few plays. That's a BA front 4.

He was much more inconsistent than Sheldon was last year, but when he was dialed in he manhandled linemen. He owned Florida State for a lot of that game. If he can stay healthy next year, I'm not sure anybody is gonna run on his and Rochelle's side.

Great news. Based on my rewatching of the games this year, I felt James played some very consistent ball. I think, like with many things, his play was widely "unnoticed", if you will. That will happen with all eyes on Jaylon, and all crosshairs on Schidmt.

“I’d be surprised if he didn’t play well. He’s going to get picked on. I sure would pick on him if I was them. I think he’ll hold up. He’s a kid that will compete. He’s got a lot of pride. He’s got some innate athletic ability to go out there and compete with some good players."

Really just normal coachspeak.

Can't fool Urban. Pretty sure he spends a lot of time on IE, so he knows what's going on.

Agree. I didn't realize James would be ready for the bowl game, what a pleasant surprise.

You know someone was gonna be like:
"The Germans did not bomb Peral Harbor." Haha. Happens once a year yes?
