I also can't stand David Shaw's stupid fvcking face on the sideline. He really rubs me the wrong way.
He's a smug prick

It looks like a hybrid of Kentucky bluegrass and Sensimilla..
The old "home field advantage". Roncalli HS here in Indy used to have a similar field for years. The were known for running the ball 99 out of 100 times. Visitor bleachers were rickety and small. You always felt the could give way at anytime. That was their way of slowing the other team down and keeping the visitors fans quiet. Their winning percentage at home was crazy good. A few years ago the replaced the field with artificial turf and put in new bleachers. They've been about .500 since
I'm here and this place ain't nothing but irish
USC is a titan of a program and even they can't fill their stadium. Californians are too kewl for college football.I won't believe Stanford is a legit titan of a program until they get a real fan base.

You say that as if sitting in stands when it's 40 and raining is fun. Plus, loads of schools have warm weather yet it's somehow uniquely detrimental to California and Miami.Sit in stands in 80° or beach in 80°

I lived in Florida for the first three years of my adult post-college life. 80 degrees in October/November was my personal hell.
I understand the point about the weather, but that doesn't explain the passion in Texas, Alabama, or Louisiana. But if it's 40/rainy there are no other outside alternative.
There are allllways those outside alternatives in LA and Miami.
I think another aspect is the "famous/social" angle. Being at some big-time club, restaurant, etc is more high profile socially than to say going to college game for those locales.
An ND game is ALWAYS the best thing happening Saturday in SB
All I can think of is "FOOTBAW"!!!I understand the point about the weather, but that doesn't explain the passion in Texas, Alabama, or Louisiana.

There are alot of migrated folks in LA/Miami, maybe not so much in Tuscaloosa, Baton Rouge, etc
It's not just podunk college towns and college sports though. California and Florida sports fans are shitty in general. Compare a Tampa Bay Rays or Oakland Raiders game to the Eagles or Red Sox. Are you going to tell me that's simply a product of there being nothing better to do in Boston or Philadelphia? There's far more to enjoy on a typical Saturday in Miami or Cali than football, especially if your team isn't good.
Outside of Bama footbaw, what else is there to do around there?

The problem with CA and FL is transplants. Everyone is from somewhere else and those fans take their loyalties with them rather than assimilate to the local teams. That's why the Rays end up looking like the visiting team when they host the Red Sox or Yankees.
Looks like the greens at chambers bay for the us open
The opposite of the greens at Chambers Bay. Those greens had no length... they were just bare. Just awful.
Well color wise they look the same. Maybe if they grew then out it'd be the same
