Common opponents. How badly did we beat Pitt on the road. What about Iowa at home?

Nobody gets breaks like the Iowa Hawkeyes. Nobody.

I don't know how I feel about the rule, but that's textbook targeting.

Totally disagree, he turned his body and head and led with the left shoulder...helmets did hit though. I replayed and watched it several times. Did not lead with the crown which is what the rule states.

By the way, I am an Iowa fan this year as it is my nephew's favorite team so I am not trying to pile on them and would love to see them make the playoffs...just not in our place.

BCF Toys - 2015 FEI Ratings

If you look to the right you will see what each team is against each platform of opponent.

As you will see Iowa's top level of competition is AA. AA for Above Average (ranked 31-50). While ND is 0-1 vs Elite, 1-0 vs very good, 1-0 vs good, and 2-0 vs above average.
Posting again as it hasn't been addressed.

Exactly, the helmet to helmet was incidental. He led with a shoulder and the guy was falling down to catch, idk how you play defense if you get flagged for breaking up passes. Theres no way he can know where the other guys head will end up as hes falling to catch it. I guess you just dont play defense anymore

It sucks as a football fan seing guys ejected for trying to break up passes

Especially when a receiver, RB, or QB puts themselves in that position and its after the defender is already attempting a hit.

Absolute crock of sh!t. That penalty flag should be picked up and the kid should stay in the game after the review. If the ball puts an offensive player or the offensive player puts themselves in a position that their helmet is going towards the defender it should be overturned by all facets.

I played offense in college, and I think its a double standard for defenders to be penalized for the same thing offensive players do all the time, i.e. lead with the helmet. It's just like the penalty where a defensive player's hand touches a facemask, but a RB can stiff arm a defender's facemask hard enough to decleat them off their feet and "that's just football". It's a joke.

Huge points before half for cornhuskers. Armstrong tried to throw another terrible int.

If Nebraska can stop turning it over this is there for the taking.

Appreciate that. I just don't think the call was wrong. The rule could maybe be tweaked, but that's the rule. He made contact with the helmet first.

Taking kids out of the game is awful. Especially in a sport that has so few events in a season.

Call wasn't "wrong", the rule is just garbage. I'm sick of kids aiming low with their shoulder and losing 10% of their season because the ball carrier/receiver loses his balance or dives forward with their head.

In this case, the Nebraska defender targets about 3' off the ground. And gets kicked out of a huge game. Just a joke.

I don't disagree with any of this. It was a fine call. If you hate it, revisit the rule.

It's a VERY difficult balance. If you don't protect players, football may be in serious trouble. There will be lawsuits coming as we learn more about CTE and other brain issues. That process will result in overreactions and viewers needing to change their mindset about the game, IMO.

Could Nebraska play any dumber? This is one of the dumbest teams I have ever seen play.

There's a really easy solution. Remove the ejection component, add a fine for the school and/or head coach.

It's fine to have an ejection component for the player, but it shouldn't carry over between games and ejections should be treated like they are for unsportsmanlike conduct... only the very egregious get a player tossed.

Can the NCAA do that?

I've seen iowa play a few times this year. I am fully convinced ND would drop 40 and win big if they played.

I think BC would beat them too.

I'm 100% sure that conferences can, and I'm 95% sure that the NCAA can. But I don't know for certain what their bylaws say about fines for on field violations by players.

I think ND would win by 14. I think Iowa would beat BC by 14.

Iowa can run the ball. Ferentz can coach OL.

Nebraska is going to need another turnover at some point to win this game.

Tough deal for the Nebraska DB. The hit wasn't intentional and just happened in the course of the play. By definition, the rule was applied correctly but I would like to see it somehow turn in to a penalty for the player and not ejection. Offensive players lower heads and shoulders every game and don't get called very often. Just hate seeing the player ejected for that one.

A sweep with poor angles by the D (without their leading tackeler) is your proof?

You're coming off as a drink Iowa fan that got lost and found this message board.

Nebraska just has to keep hanging in there. Iowa has coughed it up a couple times already. If they stay within a score they should get a chance to win.

No. Iowa has three RBs who have run for 200 yards in a game this year. The Iowa OL is elite.

Also, I'm not "drink."
