Are there any boats left?

Still mad. That was such an epic rally cry, I planned on using for the next 50 years, but now it will always be associated with a gut punch of a loss that still stings on certain days.

Goddamn I agree. It's still a great rally cry, though. The paint job with Jaylon and the torch was so special.

My biggest concern is the running game on both sides. Hogan and McCaffery. And us stuck with Adams. Outside 1 run Adams has been really ineffective. And a horrible offence racked up over 200 yards rushing. We can fix it, but I am very scared about it.

And bvg please dont let joe spy hogan, he won't be able to catch him. This game will come down to Kizer and his ability to make big throws. Big players rise, I hope ours do.

Little help with this please.

Reference to an early A Season With ... Vikings were so committed that they burned their boats when they raided foreign lands. Had a guy address the team using this metaphor.

This is demonstrably false. He hasn't been an All-American but he's been muuuuuch better than plenty of backs Alford coached for Kelly. They can win with Adams.

Then how did they get back to Scandinavia? I'm tempted to call bullshit on it, I might ask r/askhistorians.

Yeah I thought it was Cortez or another Conquistador who did that. Which personally I think is much more badass.

Buster is correct that is just not true. Adams has had a few solid games other than the 98 yard run. I know it's a big game but we need a second option in the backfield and it might be Williams. But I would really like to see Amir back there when Hunter is in the slot.

85 of those 200 yards was in one play by the QB. We all love Jaylon, but he bit hard on the fake and should have stayed home considering all that QB can do is run.

I should have said about Adams against a good d he isnt as good as procise. So, we are stuck with him. And it concerns me. I like the kid, but he concerns me against a good d. Like BC he looked bad.

Also not true. Ran very well against Wake, who has a pretty good defense. Had an okay game against BC. His pass protection had been very impressive from a true freshman

Wake isn't a good d. And he wasnt good against bc. Go watch the game again. I did yesterday again. Pass pro is good I agree. Dont forget the fumble too

Alford and what he coached. I disagree. Remember folston was a backup, gray, wood, cam, theo.

I hope i am wrong, but watching adams get dropped against bc concerns me. We will miss cj's elusiveness. Adams doesn't have that at all

Then again. Shamrock colored glasses are worn by many. Adams is a huge step down if some don't want to admit. The game will rest on kizer and can he make plays. He has before, but that was with the threat of CJ. That threat isn't there. Adams will be a good back no doubt, but his lack of shiftyness will work against us against the stoubt Stanford d. If Kizer can throw and score we will win. They will take the run away imo.

Wake is a very good defense. I think they have a top 40 defense.

I also agree Adams pass protection has been good, but I thought he had a really bad game in pass pro against BC. He looked like a freshman, which well he is.

CJ dances to much for my taste, which if you watch a Season with Notre Dame the coaches were harping on him to go north and south. Again he is also a first year back. I think last week Josh Adams was doing the same instead of just taking a yard or two that was there.

You are exaggerating stating Adams is a huge step down from a player that came in as a safety, played 2 years in the slot and is now playing rb for the first time in his life. If you say Adams is a huge step down from Folston, then I would agree with you.

I agree, all this adams is a huge drop off talk needs to stop. Imo Rb is the least important position on the football field. I agree prosise is more of a big play threat, but as far as an "every down" back, Adams fits that criteria. We won't lose this game because of Adams. We will lose because of turnovers, bad OL play, no pass rush, giving up big play, and/or dropped balls.

lol guys, us losing Prosise is not as big of a deal as some of you are making it. If this was week 1, 100% healthy Prosise, maybe I'd be more concerned. But it's not. He's banged up, hasn't really been the same in a few weeks, and guess who has DIRECTLY benefited from that... That's right - Adams. Dude has done a great job for a true frosh who wasn't even on the 3-deep this spring. And he's getting better each and every opportunity he gets.

NAME CAR YDS AVG LONG TD
C.J. Prosise 156 1032 6.6 91 (TD) 11
Josh Adams 85 589 6.9 98 (TD) 4

^^ Damn good for a true frosh who likely wouldn't have seen a single snap this year if ND didn't ND this offseason. Stop acting this THIS will be the reason we lose, if we lose.

Taken from Keith at Inside the Irish:
Cal gained 495 yards last weekend, converted 10 of 18 third downs, dominated the time of possession battle and didn’t turn the football over yet still lost by two touchdowns.

Why? Because Stanford got tough in the red zone. Cal scored just one touchdown in five red zone attempts,

Cal also couldn't have stopped McCaffrey if their lives depended on it.

But ultimately above is why I think we have a damn good chance. That's a ton of yards to a very average team.

If we can manage just a few more stops than a team like Cal was able to, ND will have every opportunity to win this ball game.

Cal's offense is ranked higher than ours. Plus, have you seen us execute in the red zone?

Having said that, I think we'll have a good shot to win.

The good news is, like that illustrates this Stanford D can get manipulated or beat. With that said, we'll need to execute better in the RZ on Saturday than we have recently. I like the ability for big plays and hoping we'll be able to run in tight spaces. Kizer is capable of a big game against this quality of D but it's easy to be skeptical. Offense wins this game and the defense can't lose it.
