Here is to hoping that Bob Elliott has been spending a good portion of his time post Navy on studying Stanford and stopping this offense.
I read the transcript of Kelly's Sunday teleconference. Kelly said he expects Cage back for Stanford. He also said that he expected Nick Watkins, Nick Coleman and Devin Butler to be in the mix to replace KVR. All have different strengths; all will likely play.
Side note: the transcript consistently referred to Devin Butler as Adam Butler. Wtf? He didn't change his name and I missed it did he?
*shudder*

it's passing game somewhat restricted.

To be fair he's a solid tackler, bad coverer. But Stanford isn't a great passing team and it makes sense IMO to play the more physical corner in this one.
Butler has a little crazy in him. I'm excited to see him go out there, probably suck in coverage but at least smack some people and maybe cause a fumble.

I'm not excited to see Butler out there in any capacity. He's caused one fumble his entire career. Let's not act like he's a thumper out there with high upside. Unless someone sprinkled magic fairy dust all over him, then I don't see how he could have improved enough to be a capable option for us. If he started, then we are in trouble, imo.

wonder if we see a lot of tori hunter jr in the secondary also?
ps don't want/wouldn't be able to take another mccaffrey as gerhart "ticket to new York" type game Saturday night.
was worried about this one even before the prosise and KVR injuries, now I have the usual "impending doom" to deal with.
Go Irish!
Going to be a tough one to pull out with all the injuries, plus we haven't won in Stanford for quite a while.

2015 is a good year to reset though
The fact we're playing for cfp spot gives this teams talent and desire a chance to overcome adversity, and a stint to get well before play off time for several injuries.
This team is tenacious.
I like our chances...

We're going to have score some points to win this game. Can't turn the ball over and capitalize on our red zone trips. I don't see any way this defense can really shut down Stanford. The good news is their defense definitely isn't as strong as in years past so I do think that we can score on them with some regularity.
