Looks pretty good honestly, though I will never play this series again until ulk acknowledges The Rock as the People's Champ, The People's Choice and the Best damned Heel, there ever was!!! ;)

Guess we'll be enjoying this one without you.

Hey, if you want me to lie to you, all you gotta do is say so.

I think I've seen that entire 22min gameplay, just broken up into smaller videos over the last few months. Watching it again, especially the settlement building/raider attacks and the weapon crafting...very excited. I love little extra features like that, they can really compliment the rest of the game to make it better. The only way it could be better is if there was a way to join a buddy's settlement through a network and fight off Raiders and Super Mutants together.

One last question on Fallout. Can you be a good guy? I hate when the "shades of gray" crap is forced down your throat. I like having the ability to be good, bad, or any kind of in between, but I don't want to be forced to do the "in between." I feel like it breaks the role-playing aspect.

Oh yeah. You can do just about anything you want in Fallout. You can be good, bad, in between, and you can switch at any time. Anyone is typically killable in the game, even quest NPCs (Although, much like Skyrim, typically some main quest NPCs are untouchable until you've completed their portion of the main story)

Karma has always been a big part of the series, and they track how good/bad you are. They often track your standing in certain regions and towns too, so you could be a criminal in one town and a hero in the next.

In FO:NV, almost every action you take has an impact on your moral character (which is explicitly tracked as "Karma" throughout the game). Stealing lowers your Karma, while killing raiders or helping townsfolk increases it. Toward the end of the game, you could gain access to different powerful talents depending on if you were good, neutral or evil.

And for something like stealing, it's based on when you actually do it, not if someone sees you doing it? That was something else I didn't love about Skyrim. Stealing is fine if you don't get caught.

Yes. Regardless of who sees you, if you steal anything or kill an innocent person, you lose Karma.

haha, I loved stealing stuff in Skyrim and getting away with it without it lowering your 'good guy' rep....

Which brings us back to why Fallout skews more toward the RPG side than Action (combat-mechanics notwithstanding). Skyrim was pretty utilitarian, in that it didn't really care much what you did-- only how you did it, and who saw you do it. Fallout focuses much more on what sort of character you're building.

Eh, maybe it's just me playing FO3 only.... As far as Skyrim, It did care about what you did though, one can make a case that's it's far more realistic that anyone is a good person until caught doing something wrong......... if you went around just jacking and killing people, obviously that's different and could impact the game.

Picked up Shadows of Mordor for $20 today and the wife is still out of town so I've been playing it for a few hours. Lots of fun, definitely worth a play for the low price. One thing it took me awhile to get used to is that stealth is pretty much "on" or "off." You can sprint-run right up behind a guy and he's dead. Doesn't matter how loud you are. I need to remind myself it's a fantasy action game, not a stealth simulator.

I spent a lot of time having fun with the nemisis system in that game.

So I've spent more time engaging with video games in the last few days than I have probably in the last year, so this conversation may be old hat for a lot of you. What's the deal with micro-transactions? It seems like they're universally despised, but somebody must be buying this crap for the developers to continue rolling them out. They make sense to me in free-to-play mobile games like Clash of Clans, but I was pretty shocked to sit down with FIFA this week and see the option to buy in-game "packs" with real currency, considering the game carried a full $60 price tag.

DLC that's an actual expansion to the game makes sense to me. I've bought Knights of the Nine for Oblivion, Hearthfire for Skyrim, and Undead Nightmare for Red Dead, but those were all FULL games that gave you your $50 worth and then the add-ons provided real and tangible expansions.

It sucks because..... 1.) your point above 2.) It then shifts the attention of the developers away from realistic modes worth playing (imo of course) like Manager Mode to bs like Ultimate Team because that's suddenly where the money is...

I don't play UT at all so the fact that others pay money to game that mode doesn't impact me, but it does burn me that better modes get second tier attention in favor of the fantasy mode stuff simply bc of the money...

I have no problem with skins, clothing, etc. But if it's weapons, characters, armor, and things with stat-affecting impact, that's a problem. Especially if it's an online multiplayer game.

I get that too... I don't play any of these modes online so it doesn't impact me, this year was the first in a few that any real attention was given to Manager Mode tho... every year lately (since this micro trans thing really blew up) the build up/hype to the release has all been about Ultimate Team... this isn't just FIFA either, most sports games are like that now.

Yeah, most people agree that "Pay to win" sucks.
I understand micro transactions for free to play games, that's how they make their money. EA Sports nickel and diming their customers? Horseshit. I remember one year doing my offline dynasty for NCAA Football and I saw they offered some boost to your school's Campus Lifestyle or something, which is about impossible to raise. So, I bought it for $.99 thinking it was something you could reuse in other offline dynasties or use it once a year. Nope, one time only, and just for that team. That's pretty damn low, EA. It would be one thing if you could raise the stat within a reasonable time, but typically a Campus Lifestyle won't budge even after 10 years. The bump only gave you 1/3 of a letter grade too, really should have been a full letter at least imo. The fact you can't really move grades like Campus Lifestyle sure looks like an obvious money grab attempt from EA, especially since it's only good for one team, in one dynasty.

It's hilarious what I'm into now.

I'm in between serious flight/space sims right now due to updates. So I'm playing Fishing Planet. It's fucking awesome.

It's FTP but requires no money to progress really far. If you happen to know how to fish for real, it really helps in the game.

Fun stuff.

Black Ops 3 initial reaction: Utter fail. Not smooth game play, overly aggressive weapons, and they kept the freaking 'futuristic' things like power slides and flying from 'advanced warfare'. Very disappointed. Haven't touched zombies yet, hopefully that saves it but I'm skeptical.

This was my reaction to the build up if you remember my posts here... Keep this simple, don't jump the shark, seems they refused to listen on both items... I would still love a good, deep, realistic (for CoD) WWII Normany to Berlin game... But even with their wwii games they insist on multiple fronts, making you play as the Russians and British... All that jazz...

Anyway, once I saw wall walking in the trailers, I knew I wasn't a fan of this one...
