And somehow they managed to steamroll us last seadon.............

It was a WWE beat down

It was a beatdown but I wasn't too upset about it due to the fact that ND's D was a good chunk of freshmen/sophomores/first timers.

It's easier to jump right back into your routine on offense with youngsters - but defense needs to be experienced and ND wasn't last year with all the injuries in the end.

This year ND will be at full strength when you compare it to last year when they face USC. So this game will be a big teller for me as far as how far ND has come. Because USC still has the talent and it's USC.

Last night Washington was able to get pressure and collapse the pocket with 4 DL most of the night. This caused a lot of hurries, poor throws and dump downs for the LB's, DB's, and S's to easily clean up. I think that has to be the gameplan going forward, I'm just not sure our starting 4 as it currently sits can consistently do that. Maybe some personnel changes?

Until we play Navy... Putting the over/under of injuries (starters who will miss the USC game) at 2.5......

Taking the over.

I don't see us dropping 8 to pick up scraps either. 10 Schmidt blitz's seem more likely.

Burns me that we cant seem to get a DL push unless we are firing backers or DBs every play. When you have 2-3 stars at UW getting great pressure with 4 DL and we cant seem to pressure the school of the blind with 4 stars...

Joe would be on the bench for much of this game if I was in charge. I'd play Morgan, give him the 10 blitzes after telling him what Kessler said about his Mama. What a d***!

I think we have guys that can, I just don't think those guys are playing or are in the right spot.

The flip side to that was that Washingtons D ends were pretty small and got pushed around when USC decided to run.

Fair but they only gave up a total of 356 yards of offense. I'll take that and say we win. 190 on the ground looks bad but keeping Kessler to under 200 yards means you're keeping the big plays down. They also created a lot of turnover but two of those were directly correlated to their game plan. One was a INT and the other was JuJu getting frustrated and trying to do too much with an underneath route. You're not going to be perfect with a team that has that much talent but you need to be able to frustrate what they want to do. Plus, I think we could play Trumbetti all game long, get good pass rush out of him and also better run D than you saw last night.

Here's why this might not work for ND. We refuse to play our best rushing DE's and athletic LB's. We can't stop blitzing our LB's. For whatever reason can't commit to playing press man on the outside. And we have a MLB who seems to be running in place. God bless him, he's a heck of a guy.

I have to think Sark getting suspended, and Hayes enrolling early, bodes well for the Irish

Wilfong CB.

What exactly happens when a coach is suspended indefinitely? I assume he has zero contact with recruits during that time. If that's the case, time to poach hard. We should be on the phone with CJ Pollard ASAP, IMO.

I'm stoked that he dumped SC but I wish it was because ND out recruited them and not because Sark is a drunk. Hopefully it's a combo of both.
