Me too. I actually feel tremendously good about it because I really do not believe the Irish coaches would call the running plays they did involving Zaire - knowing the possibilities of injury - without being confident that Kizer could come in and take over.

Maybe not on the full-time basis that is happening now but, it had to have crossed BK's mind during the summer camps.

How smart does Sanford look for having scripting Kizer's most comfortable pass plays prior to the game.

That was good stuff.

Sanford may be the best hire Kelly made since being here. HH is great, but Sanford has to get Kizer on his toes and I believe he can with HH saying beside Sanford, "Don't worry buddy, I have some studs in front of you that will protect you".

I imagine that was filmed afterward and thrown it to show they were ready, unless Showtime just happened to be in a perfect spot to capture that pivotal conversation. Not declaring it one way or the other but it wouldn't be disingenuous to "shoot" a scene knowing full well you actually had that convo prior to the game.

Either way, great episode.

I'd be pretty disappointed if that's true. Given the emotion around Malik's injury, it would be very disingenuous and insensitive to stage a TV story line after the fact.

Besides, aren't they filming every practice with all the coaches mic'd up? Sanford is by all accounts a great coach, so it doesn't surprise me that he would prepare for that.

Agree 100% love the hire now we need to see the benefits!

Loving this show... I must admit, I wasn't happy when they announced it but absolutely love the production value and the way it paints the program

I didn't get that feeling at all. It felt like the cameras caught that and it was perfect for the situation. BK was on the Dan Patrick show last week and he said there are cameras everywhere all the time. Including Showtime taping his interview with Dan.

Agreed - I just really can't see Sanford and Denbrock staging that conversation.

Where during the episode did they discuss Kizer's most comfortable plays? I can't seem to find it.

edit: nevermind found it.

There is a scene where Sanford and Denbrock are going over plays MS has on a large play sheet. He talks about having Zaire's best ten pass plays and then at the end he says he did the same for DK. They are standing alone at the practice facility.

Thanks - that was a tough ending to watch.

EDIT: That conversation BK had to have with Malik's mom had to be gut wrenching for him. You can tell how much he cares for MZ. I would bet that BK broke down in private Saturday night.

..... I'm crying like a damn baby. Gosh I love this team.

One thing is for sure....I did not get choked up at the end.

Not at all....

I watched the episode with my wife, and I did get a little teary-eyed, but of course I just played it off well with a quick yawn, and walk to the kitchen to get a drink.

Malik made you feel what it meant (and means) to him....

Just finished this last episode. Daaaaamn, was that tough. It kills me to see these guys get injured. I've really enjoyed the show so far but that was tough to watch.

A completely irrational thought, but I was immediately pissed Kelly had him carrying the rock on that play, lol.

That was a rough watch. Wow. It's obvious how much everyone respects the hell out of Zaire.

Anyone else watch Onward tonight? Malik is one of the coolest dudes ever, really makes you feel for him knowing what happened saturday.

two episodes and two times I cried watching TV.

Damnit. That was really well done, and tough to watch.

After saying he had plays scripted for DK, he also said, "in case #$%@ hits the fan". Sanford may be a prophet.

First thing that entered my mind when I saw this clip: "Mike Sanford should be running this offense." Perhaps "comfort plays" or "confidence plays" (whatever you want to call them) are a common thing, but this is literally the first time I have ever heard mention of an offensive staff member/coach referring to it. I think it's brilliant.

That is why he is a great assistant, that is actually going to make a great head coach.

The Sanford scripted part was definitely before. They are using a lot of the clips from camp in random spots to fit. Great production of getting everything to fit and remembering they have certain footage. It's the little things like that clip that could be from camp, but fit perfect into the story of week 10.

I do not envy the guy who has to sort through the footage lol

The links for the first episode do not work. Is there a trick to watching them or something?
