Ya'll might want to flip this conversation over.

Buster, as usual, is working things the right direction. Talking about Jones' ascendency . . .

ND has all the pieces (everywhere and at tight end) to bring an all-everything freshman along.

The new quarterback may be a blessing for the tight end receptions, as well.

I didn't mean to insult him if he's readin this. Just asking where he's at on the depth chart and if he's healthy. Haven't heard his name all fall. Sorry Nick.

So is he behind Luatua and Alize?
We should release a weekly IE depth chart. We seem to often have our own.

Feel bad for the kid, so don't get me wrong when I say that this is just laughable now. Wonder who's next...

If I recall our first depth chart of the season correctly, we had 5 TEs listed all with "or" between their names

At this rate, maybe next year is the year we make a run at the playoffs.

I know this is the case every year, but with Jarron and Folston now guaranteed to come back, if we could just convnice Fuller/Jaylon to come back (I don't think either do if they keep it up), honestly we'll be loaded in 2016.

So yeah, next year!

'13 TX TE Durham Smythe (Notre Dame Signed LOI)

How could that be anything but good news. He is starting to come along. And he is and will be next year the most complete TE on the team.

This is huge, good news. Two-TE sets will be tough for defenses to deal with, considering Alize's versatility and Smythe's experience.

I was able to attend the game versus Army. I have no idea if this happened in any of the previous games, but Smythe was open most of the first half. He should have had a much bigger day than he actually had, but Kizer wasn't looking his way. I was very impressed with his play. This is great news to hear.

listened to Mike Frank on Power Hour this morning during my commute (for the lolz of course), he called Smythe's blocking in November as "pathetic"

I'm not sure if his blocking was pathetic or not but if it was, that wasn't the only thing that was pathetic during November for this team.

If you want me to talk about things that were pathetic about ND football during the Month of November, it would be less "Durham's blocking" and more "How much time do you have?"

ND hasnt been a blocking TE in the BK era with the exception of that one monster TE that went pro. Seems BK tends to preach the receiving TE.

what gets me is how even with losing Alize, that the best TE ND can produce is a slow, non used target that obviously doesnt block well either.

Yet we had 12 receptions out of the TE position. Just another in a long line of WTFs from Kelly.

Then WTF wasn't Latua ever on the field?!

He certainly wasn't on much, not nearly enough given how effective he was in some games like the LSU bowl game, Texas 2015, and he made some plays against USC in 2015 too I believe. Seems like our running game could have used a little more Luatua at times. He might have had the right idea regarding transferring during last off season.
