Sagarin's Predictor has ND ranked #9 and GT #8.

He makes ND a 2 pt favorite with home field advantage.

I believe Sagarin does not factor in injuries.

GO IRISH
Not losing faith (or taking pts) just yet.
Praying for another 180 turn (experience) against GT with DK at the helm to put us right back in the Kool Aid drinking mode.

Durham Smythe uncertain for Saturday with an ankle injury....

On that note I was thinking today about how important the TEs will be going forward. Obviously Kelly would want to run the ball as much as possible given the QB situation, and teams are going to make Kizer beat them with his arm. So naturally having TEs in the game who can be productive and allow Kizer to get easy check downs would be nice.

Their two CBs are both 5'11, so I'm thinking Corey Robinson causes some mismatches.

We really don't know jack about GT. I didn't realize Tulane was so bad.

I think the Irish still deserve to be favorites (even though I picked GT to win).

We know that GT had the #1 offense in the country last year by many advanced metrics. At minimum, they had a top 5 offense by everything I've seen. And they won 11 games. And we know that in the past we suck at defending this kind of attack.

The only reason they aren't champs is that their defense was bad. Is their defense still bad? We don't know.

Their defense creates turnovers. They give up yards, but they force fumbles and get picks.

I had this game chalked up as a loss before the season began. We may keep it closer than people (outside of the fanbase) think, but losing Malik didn't increase my expectations for this one, that's for sure.

not prediction time yet for me, but gritty wins early in the year are very beneficial! I think we got a good helping of humble pie and get real this week at practice. I like our chances

GT has five returning starters from that team's offense {QB + 4 of the OLine ---- the one OLiner gone was their best one}.

One cannot assume anything about GT from last year.

Very true, and also hard to make inferences from playing Tulane and Alcorn St.

One other note that may or may not have significance: people always talk about ND's trap games. GT start their conference slate after this weekend, and 2 of their first 5 games are against teams that are in the top 11, and the other 3 against teams in their own division (and all 3 of these teams went to bowl games last year). Here is to hoping that GT are looking ahead somewhat.... Okay, pipe dream over!

And Virginia was our trap game. Prep hard for the opener against a top flight name (Texas) and get through week 2 as you prepare for a top 10 team in GT. We could shock people with a really strong performance.

That said, I picked GT by 7.

But these guys are from the South... The. South.

They straight up drink whiskey and they don't care who knows it... And they drink it clear!!! No hope.

I wonder how bad Redfield's arm is. He was 2014 bad last game. Tommy Rees tackles cops better than Redfield tackled. Shummate looked great though.
