Weren't we just praising Loy on being all over a few different recruiting situations months before it happened. Wasn't he calling for Daelin's flip before Daelin knew it? I don't pay for a service but from what I've gathered, Loy is a hard worker and has been fairly on point. Imagine trying to decipher 18 year olds intentions after each interview and giving fanatics somethign to be excited about without souring them by being too positive or too negative.

PANDA beat me to it and I can't rep him for it, someone else have my back?

LOY has been $$$$$$$$$$$ on his scoop lately...Hayes, Robertson and i have notice other sites falling behind as he really works the relationship w/ the kids

Agree, Tom is becoming the guy for ND... Steve will always be the man but Loy is getting close and has gotten much better. He is a tireless worker and does a good job bringing something everyday to his site, it seems he has a chat or some kind of juice daily for his readers.

I think Loy is very good at his job, and one of the best on the ND beat. However, he does get undue credit sometimes for being "first" because he publicizes "scoops" that are really just re-packing a feeling or a trend in a way that makes it sound like BREAKING NEWS.

Everyone has been on the Daelin Hayes train since the offseason. Everyone has the same information about Robertson. There hasn't been a single piece of information he's put out there that I didn't 1) see somewhere else at about the same time or 2) know beforehand.

So I don't see any evidence that Scout or ISD is "falling behind."

don't have scout or isd...but rivals has been recycling the info on a couple of recruits that he has put out recently

he is able to give a lot of quotes from said prospects and it hasn't just been the typical...we have been hearing this or that...he is giving a lot

love coach D and his breakdowns...but as work is picking up, i haven't had the time to invest as much into the recruiting stuff as much...247 gives me the quick update w/ quotes and usually has something interesting...i love they have an open forum on tuesday for any ?'s you have that Loy or wiltfong will answer

I have Rivals and Coach D is awesome for coaching type things, but he doesn't touch recruiting. The recruiting staff over their sometimes slow to the punch IMO. Been telling you guys about Loy is a dawg for years now!

Heh it's funny because I've never been much of a fan of Coach D. Thought he was overly combative to posters on ISD so I never interacted with him. There's a lot of former coaches and players on ISD that know their stuff and I thought he was rude to them.

I also remember years ago he rated Prosise a 3:s: ATH in his film eval and got mad at people that disagreed with him. So, yeah.

He is kind of argumentative, but I wouldn't say combative. I really like that he doesn't over rate every recruit ND gets. There's some on board that he's not excited about and I appreciate that out of him. He loves LOVES Devin Studstill.

If Loy would avoid doing the douche-bad things, he’d be much more respected in the industry and by those who follow these things closely. Case in point: Last year, a recruit tweets that he received an offer from ND. Instead of fact-checking, Loy has to be first, so he puts out a tweet saying that ND has offered this receiver from FL, and that he’ll have more later in a story on 24/7. Complete bullshit. So another reporter, who knows that ND wasn’t looking at said WR and also believes that the WR isn’t very good, contacts Tony Alford to see if it’s true. Of course, it wasn’t true, and Alford then has to start making sure other reporters get the word out that said WR was NOT offered by ND. But Loy got what he wanted…hits.

Another case in point…last week Matt Freeman from ISD goes to see ND commit Tommy Kramer, and takes Periscope video and posts it. Loy, sitting in his office, somehow does a story on the game with video – Matt Freeman’s video. And in doing so doesn’t even credit Matt Freeman. NOBODY with an ounce of credibility in this industry does that.

I have no doubt that Loy puts in his work, and is doing a much better job than he originally did. But I also have no doubt that he is very good at giving the appearance of hard work when none was actually done. And panda, Rivals has definitely fallen off recruiting wise, and I can’t speak for Scout, but ISD’s guys put out much more than you’re giving them credit for. Their Intel on Fridays are ridiculous, and they are always giving true updates on players. They had articles on pretty much every major player that was there this weekend. What they don’t do is give out fluff updates – updates that don’t say anything everyone already knows. Some people like those, and that’s fine, but for me anyway, well, that’s a waste of time. To each his own.

Honestly, I'm pretty impressed with Coach D's evals. I know this year he was very high on Adams and ESB when some of the sites were not. Just curious, did he evaluate Prosise as a safety?

i wasn't trying to slight ISD or scout at all because i dont have a sub to either so i couldn't give an honest review of either...i was just sticking up for loy on info he has had of late..and then comparing this to the rivals sub i have...and it isn't even close...

I think he does a good job. A really good job. My gripe was more with how he treated subscribers than his abilities.

He definitely (seems to) get irritated with people who don't agree with him.

I see a lot of arguing in this thread, but I think we can all at least agree that Jake Brown is the hardest worker in the biz, hands down. Nobody's got the inside scoop on South Bend Rec League Basketball like that guy.

He touted Zack Martin and K. Russell as being way better than their rankings stated very early in their careers / recruitments as well. I know there have been others but those 2 stick out to me.

If we land him does he play WR or Safety? With us being so deep at WR I could see Safety.

I'd rather see him at Safety (if his upside is comparable at each position). I was all for Tillery playing D as well since we have a harder time recruiting DL over OL. Seems like we have had an easier time getting WRs over Safety. Would be a huge get.

I think Loy might have jumped the gun a little early and I think Roberston is high coming off his visit. If he visits again that will be huge, actions are louder then words in recruiting. Good news though as it stands today. If he visits again then I will start getting excited.

I applaud everyone on this site because we all understand the recruiting game. No one is jumping out of their seats like they are on 24 7 over this. This site more then any by far understands the recruiting process and to not jump the gun. Why it's always good talking to my homies on this site about recruiting.

I think he's a WR for us. A better version of Will Fuller (same age comparison) and a guy who makes plays when he gets the ball in his hands.

He reminds me a lot of Steffon Diggs coming out of high school. Diggs almost went to OSU and everybody in the country would have known of him instead of going to Maryland

Loy was going to take a cycle or two to find his beat with ND. But he still gna be a weird dude because that what he is.

Diggs was outrageously physical in HS. Robertson is physical but not as much as Diggs.
