2015 Wounded Warrior Hunt for Heroes |

use link above to purchase tickets

Gobbler Down Custom Calls is proud to announce our fourth annual Wounded Warrior Hunt For Heroes.

This year we plan to give back to our heroes with a Virginia turkey hunt with all the trimmings! We plan to fully deck out our heroes in turkey gear this year as well as show them a great time April 10-13, 2015. We raise money to make this happen with this raffle and donations from local supporters and the NWTF National Capitol Area chapter.

The drawing will be held April 10 at the kick off of our hunt. Each of our heroes will draw a ticket picking a winner of a Benelli Super Black Eagle II shotgun in Max 5 camo. We had great success with this last year and hope for the same this year as many of you were instrumental in allowing us to make this happen. Thank you in advance for supporting this worthy cause in thanking and giving back to our heroes who selflessly gave so much for each of us so we can enjoy the freedoms we enjoy. Good luck to everyone!

Tickets are $10 each or 6 for $50

We will email you pictures of your actual ticket stubs with your information at no charge. If you choose to have them physically mailed to you, there will be a $2.00 service fee.

Please pass on the link to anyone you think would be interested and we truly appreciate your support!

and I really became enamored with these billie goats while there. I chased these for 2 days before I was finally able to connect.

Awesome trip. That stag is huge! Pretty impressive taking all of them with a bow.

It was a great trip. I was undeserving yet I ate it up. The bow presented some challenges-but I played the wind well.

So what's everyone's plans for the upcoming deer season? Headed to NE for a chance on a velvet buck in a month. We just upped the scores on our leases. No slaying anything under 140". Hope we find a few-or at least one for me!

I'm heading to west Texas in December for a week! It will be my first time hunting Texas. I'm going with my buddy and his dad and hunting their 1100 acre lease. Last year my buddy to a 165 chocolate horned buck. Just sighted in the new scope on the 300WSM today. I'm so pumped.
Outside that I will probably hunt my lease in central Florida a couple times for pigs and our dog sized deer.

Bow season is upon us Irish brothers. In Nebraska at the moment chasing the whitetail-in velvet if the Gods are smiling!

What are your outdoor plans?

No outdoor related content in this post, but where abouts are ya in Nebraska? If you're gonna be in Omaha at all, shoot me a PM and we can meet for a beer or two and discuss some Irish football!

Let's just sayI always google the Naper post office and take the dirt road across the highway for 20 miles. Turn at the battered sign and I'm there. I think it's Stuart. In the middle of nowhere. Awesome!

Haha that sounds like every town west of Omaha and Lincoln. You missed out on the unseasonable weather we've had the past month or so. It's been a really hot week this week

About to say, the corn desert is living up the back half of its name this week. I didn't know they started this early in the cornhusker state.

Good luck! Pics or it didn't happen.

Been here since the 1st and it isn't happening yet-so, no pics! Ha!

Pickings are slimmer this year as we upped our minimums to at least a 140. I've let several 130s pass so far this week. Sigh....

Just leaving Texas after hunting my buddies 2200 acre lease outside of Ozona Texas. Never seen so many deer in my life. 2 does and 2 ten pointers, and I missed a 10 that made my big one look small! It was an awesome trip.

Awesome. Congrats!!!! Looked like a yote hunt in the first picture. Well done.

How far are your shots? Hitting those senderos can make for a long shot.

You can shoot as far as ya want when hunting some of those mountains. I shoot a 300 WSM. The small buck was at 207 yds and the big one was 97 yds.

Does anyone have a recommendation on a decent tent for family camping (i.e. wife and toddler friendly)? My primary concerns are keeping dry, not replacing broken poles every season, and not spending a fortune.

I got a two room Eddie Bauer from Target for $125 that had a full 10x10 awning off the front door. I've used it for 4-5 years at the dunes. Probably has 20 trips total on it and no problems. It's big enough that i can pull my quad in its livingroom.

Coleman or Eddie Bauer will be easiest to get replacement parts if needed, they are available at any WalMart/Target and are the least expensive.

If you are going to a New England yupfest campground then you may want to check out a Marmot or Kelty from REI (or REI's house branded tents) I think they are Martini proof in case of spills.

Also, no matter what tent you end up going with, I suggest buying several rip stop tarps for underneath.

Coleman and Eddie Bauer tents are for the poors.

Told ya... Get one from REI so this guy ^^^^ isn't laughing at you from the next site whilst sipping scotch in his turtleneck and plaid blazer.

My single for backpacking is a Marmot that's under 2lbs. I could have bought three, 8 person tents from Target for what I paid for it.
