I think one of our coaches may have an argument too.

ND fans have every right to be paranoid.

Yeah i feel like we do. haha I just asked because all I've seen is people talk about how good he will be this year(which i hope is the case) and haven't noticed anyone really bring up the fact that as of right now he wouldn't even be allowed to play.

He might have the best tools but he'll have to be a unanimous first team All American, with 7 Int's, 2 Td's and 7 passes broken up to match Shane Walton. Here's to him being better!

Notre Dame CB KeiVarae Russell cleared by NCAA, reinstated - CBSSports.com

By Jerry Hinnen, CBSSports.com

It's officially official: Notre Dame cornerback KeiVarae Russell will play for the Fighting Irish again in 2015.

Brian Kelly confirmed the news at his Notre Dame media days press conference Tuesday, nearly three months after Russell posted the phrase "I'm back" to his Instagram account. Russell missed the entire 2014 season due to a school academic investigation.

"By the way, KeiVarae is fully cleared by the NCAA and reinstated," Kelly told reporters. "So he's back with us. You like how I dropped that in there, right?"

Russell started the first 26 games of his Notre Dame career, earning 2012 freshman All-American honors and landing on multiple 2014 preseason award watch lists before the school opened an inquiry into what it called "potential academic dishonesty" in summer 2014. That inquiry also cost defensive end Ishaq Williams his 2014 season, and Kelly said Tuesday his status for 2015 is still to be determined.

While that might be a disappointment for Irish fans (and for Kelly, and Williams), the news that there's officially nothing standing between the team's best cover corner and his return to on-field action is the kind that's worth celebrating. The Irish defense can now claim to return 11 starters -- 10 from 2014, plus the addition of Russell. If Kelly and defensive coordinator Brian VanGorder have their schematic ducks in a row after an inconsistent 2014, this should be one of the nation's best defenses.

I haven't seen any discussion on KVRs play at 0:29.

THAT is freaking amazing body control.

Certainly good body control but the only thing I see after 1:15 is Farley's jock strap on the ground and facemask stuck into the dirt as Kizer walks into the end zone..

Does anyone ever ponder how KVR would have done had he stayed on the O side of the ball. APB, Slot, KR?

One thing that I think is cool that you can assume from this camp, that both our WR's and our secondary guys, are battling against better competition than they will see on most game days. That says something.

He'd probably be stuck in the same sort of tweener boat as Amir Carlisle. Flipping sides was very good for KVR.

Great point. I'm Kool-Aid drinking on our DBs this year. I think the influx of two transfers the last two years has helped too.

I think he would have been better than Amir. Nothing against Amir, but KVR just seems meaner, with that killer attitude.

No kidding. I would add that Sebastian, who would start on most of our opponents teams, had to work his butt off to get into our two deep.

Yes, but I bet ya he sees a lot of time as the year goes on. Learning a new system in an offseason has to be a biatch. Anyone know how the two systems (from our two grad transfers Cody and Sebastian) compare to NDs?

Kid is a stud, the one guy, because of position, let him ball. He'll get beat but he'll make people look real bad. Match him up on Juju Smith, who wins? Not even close to me.
