Video touts seven mind-blowing features of new Los Angeles stadium - CBSSports.com

1. Seven HUGE outdoor video screens: Why are people actually coming into the stadium again? You can buy a parking pass, drive out to a game, watch Red Zone for eight hours sitting in your car on a 70-foot screen and then head home.

2. There's a farmer's market: These local flavors are going to crush your palette, brah.

3. In-stadium parking: I'm sorry, WHAT? You can park in the stadium? VIP's only, of course. But don't worry, peasant in the blue sweater, you can stare through the glass as Mr. Fitzmurray charges his electric car.

4. 60,000 square feet of solar panels: Or, almost one square foot for every seat in the stadium (65,000). That's pretty amazing and renewable in all but what are these fools going to do when it starts to rain and snow or the weather is bad ... Oh. Right. Nevermind. Jerks.

5. The NFL Network will live here: The NFL Network is currently based out of Culver City, Calif., which is not Los Angeles. (Well I was born in a small town. And I live in a small town. Probably die in a small town.) It will stay there with this stadium, but it'll get a full reboot with a separate 8-acre campus for NFL media to operate. That's nearly as much land as my pappy owns.

6. On-field seating: Or the closest thing you've ever seen to it. Kiefer Sutherland brags that it "blurs the lines between fan and teammate," which is probably in the best interest for everyone involved. Can definitely see Bill Belichick being a fan of that.

7. A huge trophy in an even bigger bar: It's entirely possible this whole video is designed just to troll Jerry Jones into building something bigger.

BONUS INSANE THING: That video was narrated by Keifer Sutherland: This isn't even insane, per se. But if you watched enough 24 how are you not laughing at the idea of him screaming "THERE'S NO TIME!!!" when Chargers and Raiders fans try to make a case that their teams shouldn't leave.

Sometimes I feel like I'm living in that movie Idiocracy.

This is one of those times.

Sometimes I wonder if they feel bothered by the average Joe fan. It's like they don't want people to go to the games unless they can drop a grand on the experience. It seems almost as if it's not even about football anymore.

Not to mention, if the Rams move in, they better be good. After the honeymoon phase of a new NFL team wears off, people in LA won't fill the stadium for a crappy team.

Dad: Son, we can either go to the Rams-Jaguars game this weekend and sit in the upper deck, or you can go to college. We only have enough money for one......

Son: What's their records?

And the public will front the bill yet again?

Front the bill?

They paid for the "public" transportation decades ago. And you thought the Interstate Highway System was for white flight. It was the long range plan of the NFL.

THE FACTS

Central location, easy access and plenty of on-site parking

Fact: 20 minutes east of Los Angeles, 15 minutes north of Disneyland
Fact: Equidistant from Hollywood and Newport Beach
Fact: Within an hour of over 15.5 million people – that’s 1/19 people in the USA
Fact: At the crossroads of two major freeways and four counties
Fact: Dallas, New England and New York are just a few examples of stadiums built outside of urban areas

GET DIRECTIONS

From Los Angeles: Take the 10 or the 60 and exit Grand Avenue or one of many adjacent exits
From the San Fernando Valley: Take the 210 to either the 605 or 57 to same exits above
From San Bernardino: Take the 10 or the 210 to the 57 Freeway or the 60 Freeway to the exits above

From Orange County: Take the 57 or the 605 to the 60 to the exits above

They are gonna need a lot of water for all that concrete.

OTOH that is a fantastic looking structure. It will look great hosting a World Cup Final

I still don't understand the NFL's fascination with putting a team back in LA, when its been proven more than once that LA will not support a team. The shiny new toy will attract fans for 2-3 years, but after that, things will probably return back to normal.

That is going to make really bad traffic situation even worse. I can't imagine ever thinking of driving anywhere near the 405 corridor while this thing is being built and or on game days if it does get built.

Timing should help though, right? I don't know anything about California traffic patterns but I feel like a Sunday afternoon with a giant football stadium would still be less traffic than the Monday thru Friday commute, no?

Sunday traffic in Cali is brutal, you have all the getaway traffic returning from Vegas, the rivers, mountains, whatever.... Sunday afternoon is always a bad time to be on the freeways in Cali... Not that there is ever a reasonable good time.

This. Fair-weather fans there just like in Miami. It will be tough for a team to make it in LA on their own. If there are 2-3 teams like people are projecting, it will just be trouble.

It's not............. for the NFL. The NFL is all about the business end of the game, these days.

Plus: Has anyone done an environmental survey on how this structure would fare during a Sharknado?

If it negatively impacts the Sharks you can forget any groundbreaking....

I believe they took that into account with this design.

Pregame festivals? VIP indoor valet parking? Farmers market? It's very California, I'll give them that. I hate California.

You mean that LA has tons of spoiled fair weather fans? No, that can't be. It's not like they ever lost an NFL team or two within the past 20 years or so.

This phenomenon always puzzles me, but it's absolutely true in both Florida and California. When games like Top-25 USC at Top-25 Stanford or Rays playoff games can't sell out, you have a problem with your fanbase. My hunch is that both states have a large number of transplants from up north who bring their allegiances with them. Thus, you need a team to be "sexy" for people to latch on.

Cali and Florida have tons else to do, neither are really football hotbeds to begin with... But more than anything it's the sheer amount of other stuff to do...

Freeway traffic is due to poor county funding. There is a vast difference between OC freeways and LAC freeways. Take for instance the 5 fwy, which is excellent in OC but horrific in LAC. Riverside County has some disastrous interchanges, most notably the 91 and 15 fwys. If all the fwys were built like they were in OC, traffic would flow much better.

The 101, 5, 110 are by far the worst fwys. 405 is bearable South of the 10 fwy. I imagine driving from OC will not be that bad to Carson. You can also opt for the 91 or 22 for alternate routes. Now coming from Mid Wilshire on a Thurs or Mon night, might as well put a bullet in your head or have a noose on stand by.

The 5 in the OC is still pretty bad... The 405 all throughout the OC and LA is just a giant piece evil...

If the Raiders move down and that's it it'll be a huge hit... Especially with a new stadium... Any other situation and I'm not sure... Baseball and basketball (Lakers at least) just have a stronger, healthier hold here...
