"I'm in no rush," Studstill said. "I want to make my decision as late as possible. I want to see how everything plays out. I want to see what coaches are still there, what players are still there, because that's all going to help me make my decision."
Studstill, who is ranked as the No. 43 athlete in the country, was in South Bend for the Irish Invasion back in June. He will return to campus for an official visit on Oct. 17 to see Notre Dame face USC.
"That's the only visit that I got lined up," he said. "I'm not sure who will be coming with me or which parent it will be, but we'll see."
Miami, like Notre Dame, is a school that Studstill has visited past, and according to the safety prospect, the local Hurricanes are using a similar pitch as the Irish to get him back on campus.
"They have said the same thing as Notre Dame. They need guys in the secondary. You would get to play early, and that there's not a lot of depth at the position. Really it's the same as Notre Dame," Studstill said.
While Studstill admits that early playing time is something that he will consider, he claims that he's more interested in which coaches will be in place when he signs.
"It's not a main decision," Studstill explained. "But I got to see what coaches leave, and what players get hurt. I want to see how teams do. It's more than, 'I just want to go to this school no matter what.' I just got to see what school is the best for me."
Notre Dame has kept in contact with Studstill, but it's not just one coach working him. Studstill said he has heard from defensive backs coach Todd Lyght, area recruiter Autry Denson and defensive graduate assistant Maurice Crum, who coached him up at the Irish Invasion.
"I have talked with Coach Mo, and I have been in contact with Coach Autry Denson. Coach Crum is a cool guy," Studstill said.
But the coaches aren't the only ones pushing Notre Dame. Irish freshman linebacker Tevon Coney, who played at Palm Beach Gardens last season, has reached out to Studstill, as well.
"I have been watching Tevon play," Studstill said. "We have been talking and he just keeps telling me to working."
The 6-1, 183-pound Studstill is also hearing from West Virginia, North Carolina and Louisville.
