my hype level just went up by about x1000. I always knew I wanted practical effects to come back, but after loving Mad Max and hating Jurassic World it's become my cinematic soapbox.

Couldnt agree more. Everything about what I have seen so far just feels right.

As badly burned as I felt with the prequels, you'd think I'd learn.

But, omg am I hyped for that movie.

Everything about what I have seen so far just feels right.

I think that's it, right there.

Thank you, George, for selling the franchise and stepping back. You made the right choice.

I can't remember the last time I was this pumped for a movie.

At some point they have to make an Ewan McGregor-based pre-Episode IV movie, right? Obi-Wan after Episode III, somehow being a badass and settling on Tatooine. It's a pretty wide open and fertile area with which to work.

I don't think Ewan McGregor would be bad for it, but I think they want to keep their distance from the prequels. When people think Ewan they think prequels, and when people think prequels they think of suck.

I think McGregor is one of the few salvageable bits from the prequels. Of fact he's probably the one thing they could use.

Some of the Jedi council?... I def agree he was the best part though, by far... Anyway, in part bc of the prequels, in part bc most of what Hollywood puts out lately sucks I'm finding I'm less and less hyped about Star Wars... The only big name series that is getting a new film that I'm consistently hyped about is the new Bond film, these Craig Bond flicks have been perry good IMO... Here's hoping I'm wrong about SW... I'd love for them to restore my faith with this one.

Aren't most of those guys offed by "Order 66" or whatever? The main character has to be human, so Yoda is out. Regardless, an Obi-Wan movie could incorporate Yoda and others in its plot though. There's a lot to work with there.

I am beyond excited for Star Wars VII. The same goes for the anthology film in 2016, which I think is nearly as important. If they can make a war movie in the Star Wars universe do well (meaning no main characters or Jedi, just a war objective plot set in Star Wars), options are endless. (cough #buydisneystock)

1st bolded: I really hope it stays that way. Jedi and Sith are much cooler figures as being lone space wizards of a long lost religion with a feud that stretches back generations. Force-users should be things that others flip sh*t about when they are discovered. Kind of like dragons in GOT. They are NOT cool as bureaucrats.

2nd bolded: I'm both excited and sad as a Star Wars fan. Excited because I have no doubt that Disney will do things right for the immediate future. Sad because Disney is a profit machine, and they will never stop making these movies. I guarantee that the plan is to try and annualize these in the same way that they have the Marvel movies.
Which is fine on one hand, because more Star Wars. But on the other, it will be hard to explain to my kids how big of a deal/sacred Star Wars was/is when there are fifty movies in existence about every character/battle/plot worth hearing about.

There are, what, two movies being made currently and a director has already been chosen for a Han Solo spin-off? Geez, there comes a time where maybe its time to pump the brakes just a bit before we blow the universe wide open. I can't be the only guy who started off really excited about the Marvel universe, and is now sort of sick of them because of how Disney is CONSTANTLY churning them out. The idea of me experiencing the same with Star Wars makes me feel sort of queasy.

Disneyland just announced they are going to build a full star wars land in the park. The largest expansion they have ever made

Someone else pointed it out, but the blue lightsaber he's holding could possibly be the one that Luke lost in Bespin. Supposedly it has the same style hilt and flickers like his did (Unstable crystal or something?)

At the beginning of this thread there was rumor that a scene about a hand floating in space with a light saber...... hmmmmm. Not sure how his hand and or light saber made it off Bespin and into Space.

Don't worry. JJ Abrams is really good a handling details like that.

My story would be that Darth Vader went looking for it using some droids after Luke fell and got away. They recovered the hand and Light Saber at the bottom of the Bespin spire. He took them with him, then felt terrible about maiming his son and ejected it from the Executor into space to get rid of them as they reminded him of his past. Then>>>>Lens flare... I forgot what I was saying.
