this is the sort of kid MSU would normally lock up had they not been taking all the top tier midwestern DE's :/

At least the contingency offers are going out earlier than usual?

Ogundeji was at Notre Dame Saturday. He received offers from Oregon and Rutgers earlier this month.

"We went to Notre Dame's passing camp and their coaches told us to make sure to bring the big guy (Ogundeji)," Walled Lake Central coach Bob Meyer said. "I wouldn't be surprised if an offer comes from them soon, too.

"He's the real deal. He's just 16 so he should be just going into his junior year, but he'll be a senior. He wears size 18 shoes. He's still growing and he's very athletic."

Notre Dame, Oregon take notice of W.L. Central's Ogundeji

So this is more confirmation that the staff has given up on getting or flipping any of the top DE prospects in this class, huh?

You don't send out contingency offers to ex-MAC commits in June unless it's white flag time for a position.

Michigan defensive end Adetokunbo Ogundeji recaps Monday's Rutgers trip | NJ.com

Patience is especially important to Ogundeji, who committed and then decommitted from Western Michigan, earlier this year.

"I felt like I rushed it," he said. "I felt like I went too fast. Nothing against Western Michigan at all, but I felt like I rushed it. But I sat down and had a conversation with my parents and I feel like I made the right decision on that."

PJ Fleck is a great recruiter, young and very charismatic. Easy to see how a kid could get carried away with the process and commit too soon

Walled Lake (Mich.) Central class of 2016 defensive end Adetokunbo Ogundeji, one of the Midwest's hottest prospects, talks Notre Dame offer and visit.

One of the fastest rising prospects in the Midwest recently has been Walled Lake Central defensive end Adetokunbo Ogundeji, a one-time Western Michigan commit who recently added offers from Oregon, Rutgers, and then today, another significant one in Notre Dame.
"I went to their camp this week and we've been talking and today, they extended an offer to me," he said. "I talked to Coach Gilmore. It was really exciting."
Ogundeji (6-5, 220 pounds) impressed at camp, and fits as an edge rusher for most schools, including Notre Dame, but he says specifics about scheme and how he would be used have not been discussed yet.
"No, we didn't talk about that much, but definitely, they said I could play left end because I'm long and lenghthy, but we didn't get into details."

The camp was also a chance for him to see the campus for the first time, and he plans to return soon for another extended look.
"I did go to camp and it was a great experience. I learned a lot from the coaches. They got straight to the point. The campus is really nice. I had never been to Indiana before or Notre Dame before. It was one heck of an experience."
He added, "I will go down this weekend to take a visit. I don't anything else right now (as far as other visits)."
With this recent rush of offers, Ogundeji is now forced to think about narrowing a list or making a commitment. Having committed once and re-opened, he does not want to rush himself.
"I'll make a decision when it comes to my head, but I definitely think, if I wanted to do it, I'd want to do it before school and the season to not make it a distraction for my teammates. So I'll do it before school or after school.
"Everybody is still up there. I haven't made it down to a list yet, but I think after this last visit to Notre Dame, I might cut it down."
Unless more offers come, which, these days, is a great possibility for him.

One of his coaches played for Kelly, BVG, and Denbrock and Grand Valley.

From Steve's article:

“They’re saying he’s their physical prototype defensive end, and he’s explosive off the ball and has a motor it doesn’t stop. Pretty tenacious.”

“Great kid,” Meyer said. “He’s only 16-years old. In theory he should only be going into his junior year of high school, not senior. Size 18 shoe, 6-foot-5, 230, you’re looking at kid when you meet him, he’s long and lanky and lean.”

Ogundeji will finish his prep career as a three-year starter and captain.

“Hard working,” Meyer said. “On the field just explosive. What teams do against us they triple team. The first person is we’re going to hold, and the other two help out and it doesn’t work. Still making tackles still making sacks. Eye-popping.”

WHEN ASKED IF IRISH GET GOOD NEWS THIS WEEKEND
ANSWER
: That’s a family decision,” Meyer said. “Only thing I can tell him, you can’t lose, you have great people there.”

I listened to him on XM91 College Sports Nation yesterday. I was literally blown away. I've never been more impressed listening to a coach do a talk segment on the radio then listening to Coach Fleck. I have zero doubt that he will be coaching a team from a BCS conference at some point.

I have family in Western MI who follow HS football over there and from what i have heard everyone in the area loves Fleck and what he is doing. He's definitely one to keep an eye on

Kid was probably 15 in those highlights. Could be an absolute animal next year as a senior. I know he's not a high rated guy but I like the frame and potential development ability of an athlete here. 6'5" 225 and growing.

Hopefully he can get a redshirt year unlike Okwara.

In the last week and a half he has received offers from Oregon, Rutgers, Cal, and now ND so he certainly blowing up. Big frame and think he could eventually be a good to great player with a couple years to develop but really needs to bulk up. Really want at least one DE in this class that can compete as a freshman tho.

This is what turned me off with his tape. He looks big and athletic but he's practically bum rushing the linemen. I like to see a DE's hands flying everywhere. He'll be a project, no doubt.
