There's no way that Troy Smith gets drafted in the 1st round. There are three quzrterbacks (Quinn, Brian Brohm, and Drew Stanton) who I'm sure are going to go ahead of him. I know that Brohm is only a junior, but it is believed that he will most likely declare himself for the draft. With all the young quarterbacks in the NFL right now, there's not many teams who would be willing to use a 1st round draft pick on a quarterback like Troy Smith.

Mel Kiper Jr. has Troy Smith at number 20 on his big board of who will go when....he wont be a 3rd stringer, he'll be on a good team as well going number 20...the Heisman, Maxwell, any other college award has nothing to do with draft status and Im unsure why this always comes up when comparing the two, its college now and when the bowl season comes and goes then speak of their nfl potential....and bucks4life when he was speaking about a sweatervest or a sweatshirt hanging down to his knees was i believe speaking of Tressel compared to Weis whoever made a comment about that....Look Im not getting defensive here, but you can't tell me that Troy Smith is not a good passer, he blew Michigan up BIG time, something Quinn was unable to do, and you'll turn around and speak of Penn State, but those were two different days, beautiful day in South Bend, Shitty rainy day in Columbus, look at both MSU games shitty day in East Lansing for the ND game and nice for the OSU game....but I do remember Troy Smith having a great day throwing in the Fiesta Bowl last year, hitting Holmes and Ginn IN stride on deep balls....you can't tell me he's not a good passer, unless of course you don't watch college football.

When you speak of standards and eligibility I hope you are not referring to adedemics because if you are they you obviously don't know that Troy Smith has already graduated (in 4 years) so I really hope you arent referring to Troy Smith as a "dumbass" because most kids don't graduate it 4 years, football players or not

AC, i know OSU has it trolls probably more then most but all teams have them. Thats why i usually ignore them.. I may have opinions they may not agree with you but i will never be a hater or a troll about any player,coach or school.........................

this is true, it is hard to let the tOSU ones go since they are so large in numbers... but everyone does have them...

thanks for being rational... I must be as honest as I can... hope you at least appreciate that... I have worked a ton of customer service jobs to pay for school, (bar tender at a sports bar prob the best example here) and every fanbase has a group that hates on ND... some, like BC fans hate us in general BUT we have a history there... ONLY and I mean ONLY tOSU fans for the most part hate on ND collectively without any real history to point too, regardless if Nd is winning or not, relevant or not... again honestly, my experience makes me think of the phrase "inferiority complex" so with my collective experience it is easy to jump off that bridge...

By the way, to even suggest that Smith is that much better of a QB than Quinn is laughable. Stats speak for themselves. Give Quinn everything that Smith has had at shitbird university and Quinn's numbers would be even higher and he would have shattered the records he already broke. Smith was fortunate enough to have WR's that had great speed and were able to blow by their defenders and half the time they had to wait for the deep ball to reach them, meaning Smith wasn't able to hit them in stride, he also had WRs that were able to turn short passes into long yardage plays. Smith couldn't hold Quinn's jockstrap.

Your probably right. But Why many people dont think Troy Smith translates well to the NFL or why he isnt as good as an NFL prospect as Brady Quinn is beyond me.

Because he doesn't have the height to look over and throw over defenses as easily as Quinn. And while that certainly hasn't hurt Drew Brees, 6'2 and up is preferable.
He does have good mobility but his footwork in the pocket is behind Quinn's.
I still haven't seen him make a great throw, ie putting the ball into a tight spot with great accuracy. All of his highlight throws are to wide open receivers who get that wide open because A) The OSU OL is exceptional and B) Ginn and Gonzales are f-a-s-t.
