The sports media set us up. Saying Meyer was a sure thing, saying we fired Ty only to get Meyer. It was all BS, we fired Ty because he lost, 5-7, and 6-5 are not records that ND fans will except. But they set us up to look stupid, and it worked. Saying ND only looked at Meyer, if that were true dont you think they would have just offered more money then Florida. But they didnt, because Meyer wasnt the only option, the media just spun the story that way. Meyer is a good coach, but come on he isnt any better then Hawkins. Last I checked Boise St is ranked for the third straight year. The guy (Hawkins) is 44-6. Freaking Boise St in the top ten. I repeat Boise St top ten, enough said. And another thing about Meyer isnt Florida the third team (Bowling Green, Utah, Florida) he'll be coaching in 5 years, do you really want a guy like that.

And another thing, if Meyer was ND's only choice. Why is he telling ESPN that ND never made an offer to him, they just interviewed. Kinda funny we didnt make an offer to our only choice.

Try this one on for size: ND was too hasty in all of this and ESPN is irrelevant.

95% of Americans could care less about college football, especially with basketball brawls, hockey strikes, and juiced baseball. Everybody else in the media moved on already and nobody thought a guy with an ND out in his contract would refuse the job. (Of course, it was apparently never offered to him, which the media is now acknowledging.)

Of the 5% of Americans that do follow college football, probably a third of them are Notre Dame fans and that's not going to change.

Lastly, Petrino is in the top-10 too and he has beaten some real teams with bigger numbers. Either way, I still want Weis; his career record is outstanding and shows dominance at each new level he has taken.

Nobody "set us up". Kevin White brought this upon himself. This is the second time we've gone through this. Instead of firing coaches, why not fire the gentleman who hired them in the first place?

I dont like Kevin White, but how is this his fault? ND wasnt out there saying Urban Meyer was there next coach. It was the media and the fans.

I agree that ESPN set us up. Just heard this today: "Willingham allowed the players
to make and receive cell phone calls at half-time of games." Supposedly Kent
Baer told someone this and added, "What can you do these days?" I'd have a hammer
ready for any cell phone used in my locker room.
