That'd be crazy. Who's the last ND #1 overall draft pick?

Who would you rather have as your LT? Martin or Stanley?
The scary thing is that it seems like we should have another NFL caliber player to replace Stanley when he leaves

When Stanley goes in the 1st round that will be testament to Harry Hiestand's ability to develop players. Have a look at Stanley's original rankings from the first page of this thread:
RANKINGS
Rivals: , #19 OT, Rating 5.8, National #170
Scout: , #14 OT,
ESPN: , #39 OT, Grade 79
247: , #14 OT, National #121
Stanley wasn't even considered a top-ten tackle in his class. His highest rating was #14 on Scout and 247. ESPN had him at the #39 tackle in the class. Now, he is widely regarded as the best or one of the best tackles in the country going into the 2015 season.
Hiestand had the message, and Stanley bought into it. Is it any wonder top offensive linemen want to come to Notre Dame? Top-level football + superior education + Harry Hiestand's coaching = NFL Lineman

From the moment I first watched Stanley's tape I knew he would be a first round pick. He was severely underrated coming out of high school. Not sure if that's because he came from a non football state or what.

I was a believer when he became the backup tackle as a true freshman on a team with some decent, experienced O-lineman.
I thought McGlinchey would be the sure-fire 1st rounder in recruiting, and I still think he has that kind of ceiling. That said, Stanley is a crem de la crem talent, and I hope he goes top 8.
Maybe he will fall to the 2nd round and Pats can grab him.
why not use their 1st rounder? ohh..

Rumor I heard is Ronnie was voted as a captain but turned it down due to an undisclosed reason and apologized to the team. Anyone else hear of this and have more detail? Very shocked he isn't a captain?

I actually came to this thread to see if there was any info on why he wasn't voted captain. VERY surprised about this. Would love to know why he wasn't named and if there's any truth to the above.
Can't argue with the choices really. Too many leaders to name them all captain is what Kelly was saying. I have no doubt Ronnie will still be a leader for this team.
