Dropping OSU from consideration because they don't have his major. He wants to play school.

Wait I thought OSU advertised that they had "every major except marine biology since they aren't on a ocean" or some shit like that.

Can't he go Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at ND and do an internship at Jiffy Lube on Lincolnway?

*After reading up on it, looks like he's headed to Pennzoil St.

Pet Eng is pretty stout major while playing DI athletics. I certainly could not have done it, or at the very least, one would've suffered.

Funnily enough, half the engineers I know employed by the oil industry down here didn't major in Petroleum Engineering - 2 are chemical, one mechanical, and one is an electrical engineer. So it's definitely not a nonstarter in my mind.

/Why did the engineer cross the road?
//Because he looked up what to do in a table, and that's what they did last year.

Petroleum engineering definitely the preferred major in the industry for the front runners dealing with new production and reservoirs.

Facility and electrical have their own niche, but they don't come close to the same core curriculum and specialization...

They may work for a production company and be PEs, but they wouldn't manage anything downhole or surface in a front runner's operation on the production and exploration side. Geologists also have their own slice.

@SWiltfong247: #NotreDame may be getting back into the mix with a Top100 LB: https://t.co/CWRBzYuOw4 #ND #Irish @TomLoy247

Are we adding a petroleum engineering major next year? Or has Brendan seen the light on climate change?

Lol what if Obama's Keystone Pipeline decision is actually the reason he's re-considering ND?

I suspect the current employment picture for petroleum engineers would be a much bigger factor than either of those reasons.

PSU and WVU lead according to his 247 profile . If he doesnt want to be a Petroleum Engineering major anymore i'd love to recruit against them. Has offers from Bama, OSU, Michigan, and more but doesnt seem to be considering them.

He reached out to ND staff so maybe he wants to play elite football and not on a West Virginia defense

Could be wrong, but wouldn't the death of the Keystone Pipeline affect the job prospects for petroleum engineers?

No!!!

It would only increase the cost of transport of oil.

The glut supply caused by opening up the chokes on Middle Eastern / OPEC producers are what's killing prospects.

But honestly: is there a reliable, cost-effective alternative to run the world and lubricate against premature wear, make plastics, clothes, etc?

Pet. Eng. is going nowhere. Because it's absolutely necessary.

It's a great major and career. Very lucrative.

I didn't realize West Virginia had a defense. Just figured they lined up a bunch of converted wide recievers and scat backs.

Think I counted 10 plays of him playing run defense in his 8+ minute long senior highlights. Nice athlete, but if I'm recruiting a kid to play linebacker, I'd like to see him play linebacker, and honestly, a lack of quality defensive highlights is concerning.

Hansford, McCulloch, and Ferns would surely rival last years LB class right?

B.S. available in aeronautical, mechanical, chem, boimolecular, civil, environmental, earth sciences, computer and electrical.

If I recall, Drue is in the engineering department, though I don't know which field.
