He's visitng UM this weekend and it's being said this this might be his last visit before he decides. It's a UM/ND battle right now so we'll see what happens from here.

Irish Illustrated seems to think Wisconsin is in the driver's seat. 247 has made it sound like Wisconsin is running 4th and Michigan and OSU are the real competition. I don't know who to believe, but if Hiestand somehow pulls this off then I want him to go all in on Michael Jordan. Not because I think he's the best guy left on our board, I just really want to see him steal the two best O-linemen from Ohio, the best from Wisconsin and the best from Michigan all in the same year. If he pulls that off, Jim Delany might put a hit out on HH.

I should have specified that Steve Lorenz was the one that posted about the visit and that it's a UM/ND battle and he's a massive homer if not recruiter of UM. With that said Irish247's sources after his ND visit said that it was Wiscy/ND, but Wiltfong said that he never thought that was true and UM was right there.

Yeah, I just read the Lorenz article and his comments, and it sounds like he doesn't know anything. The one constant in Bredeson's recruitment is that we're a player. Others have either counted out Wisconsin or counted out UM/OSU. That could just mean that we're a strong second, but you have to imagine Kraemer, Eichenberg and Hiestand are constantly in Bredeson's ear selling him on becoming a part of the best O-line class in the country. I'm cautiously optimistic on this one, especially if a decision comes soon.

This from 247? Wisconsin is tops or tied at top of his list.

EDIT: Just saw it was Lorenz. There is absolutely no doubt that Wisconsin is in whatever top group you want to assemble.

I would say it's a Wisconsin-ND battle.

Wisconsin offers a chance to play early and play at home. I believe the family likes Chryst, but Wisconsin isn't Notre Dame when it comes to a program as a whole from athletics and academics. Chryst will get things back on track in-state and is repairing broken relationships within the state from the previous staff.

Notre Dame the family as a whole loves it and loves Hiestand. I think the NFL track record over the past few years also is appealing to them. The chance to come in with Eichenberg and Kraemer is also appealing as previously noted.

I think Michigan and Bama are trailing. Michigan might be ahead there because his brother is playing baseball there, but obviously Alabama is an attractive destination for a OL.

I think Notre Dame is making a strong case for him leaving the state and is doing all you can ask for at this stage.

Bredeson told Tom Loy instead of Steve Lorenz that he was delaying his unofficial to Michigan until May 30th. I can only assume this means that Bredeson has been committed to ND since last July, and Tom Loy has the exclusive scoop.

With his bro is playing baseball there and their obvious needs, I think Um would have a shot until the end.

I like ND's chances too.

What in the world is Harry doing right? I hope he keeps doing it. This would be the strongest position depth I've ever seen at ND for any position if we end up signing the the big three. Insane when you couple them with the last two classes.

Fingers and toes crossed.

Time to seal the greatest offensive line recruiting coupe in decades. (I mean when he announces.)

A coupe I tell ya!

Maybe we can setup some ride-alongs for the other coaches. Whatever Harry is doing, do it.

the BIG difference is Harry gets to be himself and doesn't have to do all that much...OL is a completely different breed when it comes to recruits....they don't typically need the massive amounts of attention unless their dad is struggling to get his rap tape out there....listening to power hour Harry just says talk to the current players about me and if you like what they have to say and you want ND to set you up for life then there really isn't another choice

I agree. Recruiting OL is totally different to the skill position and the high profile defensive players. I don't think they get "addicted" to the attention/head-lines/fan-fare that the others do because they didn't get it in HS and don't live and die for the "look at me" moments. They are more grounded...so is Harry.

That's the best and worst part of it all. It's great because we know Harry isn't selling a shit sandwich that recruits may figure out later but it's bad because we can't get other positions to see the same thing. Hopefully Lyght and Denson can lock down their positions in a similar manner.

What I wouldn't give to bring in secondary similar to USC or even Stanford at this point. Imagine having a Redfield at minimum every year, coupled with a KR, a Shumate, a Crawford and a Cole Luke. Every year.

It's just ridiculous how hard we have to fight for certain positions. The same could be said for DEs.

Maybe this year, we'll overperform and start to move up in the mind's of certain positional recruits.

It's the nature of the positions....they are flashy kinds of people...that's not someone who gets a 40 year decision...in all honesty look at our wr's ....fuller is a pretty quiet dude, robinson, brown etc are completely different that the dez bryant's of the world
The ones that end up at USC really weren't coming here to begin with...cravens, mcquay, jackson etc...the others at stanford this year arn't the norm for them...

Also, provided we did a better job at doing our job they would probably be at ND. At least 1 of them, IMO. If we would've given Edwards the green light sooner, he'd be at ND. Also, if we would've been recruiting Reid from the get go like we did down the stretch or like Stanford did. However, we didn't and our big game hunting strategy once again failed.

Told Irish247 that he's hoping to decide soon after these visits. Mentioned that he's went back and forth a lot on who his favorite is but that at this time he has a pretty good idea of where he wants to go. Didn't say which school but Witlfong likes ND's chances.

FWIW, Coach D (now at rivals) mentioned that Ben is much shorter than what is being documented. Saw him on campus next to Eichenberg at he's probably more like 6'3. Wasn't meant as a knock just gives a different picture than what some might think.

So Eichenberg came for the visit?

Just my opinion of course but if he's closer to 6'3 then I might start him off at center. Maybe I'm playing it old school like that but that could be one massive OL.

If Hoge is as good as advertised, I'd probably start him at OG instead.
