Will be on campus at some point in the next two weeks

Intriguing. I know he was originally scheduled for a visit the last weekend of April. I assume this would replace that visit?

Seems like a very solid WR that with a little coaching could become a very good one for us. Hope he enjoys his visit.

His teammate Chacho Ulloa got an offer yesterday. Now he has a travel partner, granted it's not on a G500 but with any luck, this could be Fertitta/Jones 2.0

Keep your fingers crossed. Statistically, he was the best player in SoCal LAST year. I don't know what he has to do to be a 5* and the #1 WR OA? What he did was unprecedented and it was against the toughest schedule in the country, stocked full of the highest rated DB's ANY WR in the country faced.

He is my number #1 want at wr. I would take him and either Corley or Mitchell. I think I prefer Mitchell.

The main point is this kid is an absolute stud. Could be a top 3 wr in this class when all is said and done.

Any combination of those three would be a home run. I like all three of those prospects more than A Mack.

Very well spoken. Seems like he understands the 40 year decision. I'd be very happy to have him in this class.

Ranked by the 247Sports Composite as the nation's No. 13 receiver and No. 102 player overall, McKinley has had a chance to visit several schools at this point in the process.

"I'd have to say probably Notre Dame, Washington and Cal have probably been the most personal visits I've had," he said.

McKinley visited the Irish campus last month.

"Just like Stanford, Notre Dame has good academics, especially out there and the balance of football and academics they have is really something real. They're a good football program, they still excel beating other good teams but they still have the good academics behind it.

"I think I've grown closer with Coach (Mike) Sanford, he's my recruiter for my area. We have regular conversation. Also I still call Coach (Bob) Elliott a lot and (Mike) Denbrock as well."

As previously reported, McKinley will return for his official the weekend of Oct. 17 when USC comes to South Bend.

"They told me with the students with how they rally up, they told me that's the biggest game for all the players and students and I just want to go out there and see a big game like that."

I don't care what any scout says about his total upside or any knitpicking they offer... Javon McKinley put up the following stat line over his last 5 games last year with a NAIA level QB:

54 rec......1013 yards......13 TD's (2 were KOR)

Great numbers in any state but he did this against Serra, Mater Dei, Bishop Amat, St John Bosco and De La Salle in the California playoffs. I can't think of a more impressive run against top nationally ranked teams ever...in any sport.

It is unbelievable that there are people that think he is only the #13 WR in the country. He even went for 150 yards and 2TD against LB Poly with Biggie Marshall and Jack Jones lined up across from hi... yet an internet talent scout can fall in love with a kid in Missouri because he hand times him at 4.3 but the kid can only put up 1000 yards in an entire season playing against next years intramural squad at Pohdunk Community College. JMc did it against 4 and 5 star DB's ALL year, were talking ND offers at every school.

This guy is going to be an all timer, he already is.

And it looks like he's heading to South Bend.

Not that I don't agree with you on many fronts, but there's a lot more to someone's stats than just how good the player is...especially high school wide receivers.

I don't see McKinley doing that as he has said that he wants to commit at an All star game and take OV's. I actually think this will work in our favor when it comes to him. This is one position where we can afford to wait for him and let others fill up. Now he's good enough to be a take for anybody at anytime but ND should look more attractive based on a small class of WR's.

i just put it here because anna tweeted out Tyler Vaughns and Javon McKinley, top ranked WRs in Cali, both ND targets in response to douche bag biggins tweet

I agree with what you wrote 100%. Do you think stats might be not telling the whole story in this case?

I would have to go through a bunch of tape to argue/determine if that was the case.
