If Wiltfong ends up being right on this, who is more likely to end up at LT between Eichenberg and Kraemer?

Would be just short of epic if he does commit to ND.

This was a response from one of elevenwarriors staff members about Eichenberg

Ohio State doesn't feel he's "slipping away" - but Wiltfong is the best in the business, he's not prone to going out on limbs often. We'll see in a few weeks.

Man they are riding quite high over there aren't they? Lotta shit talk about 2012 from a team that has their own history of being blown out in Championships.

That and the typical angry BK photos that they like to pull out every time they get beat on a recruit. It's their way of coping.

I like the one guy who was a complete realist talking about ND's academics and then some idiot tries to tell him osu> ND in academics...

And I love how the guy was dumb enough to bring up an MBA, a graduate-level degree. Durrrrrr.

The guy definitely has a point, Ohio State as plenty of great programs. But a two-minute evaluation of the academic accomplishments of the football teams renders all that moot.

The best post of all was this gem. Thank God I've been enlightened. Now my son can go to IPFW and get the same education as Harvard.

Knowledge is universal. The rank of a university is based on perception, the quality of the professors, and the quality of the students accepted into the college. State universities usually rank lower than private universities because they accept more students and hire more professors. They have a lower overall average. They teach the same material. Harvard professors do not have their own "Ivy League" information to exclusively teach their students. It's a con.

They posted in TV this week that Wiltfong was close to changing his mind. I get the impression that he's/they are hearing something. Good news for ND.

Not to rip 247 but I don't think they've got any info here that we didn't already have. A random poster at ISD was a couple days ahead of these CB changes noting conversations had with his coaches. I don't think anyone should really too much into stuff until he makes a decision which should be in April or May.

I think what your saying is fair but for Wiltfomg to come off his post as it being OSU, I take that as good news and he's usually doing that with some sort of news.

My favorite angry coach pic is woody Hayes punching an opposing player ... So coping.

I think you have discovered a theme. Woody used to claim he was ND's best recruiter. He purposely didn't schedule ND, out of his respect for the large number of Irish Catholics in Ohio. So when he felt he was losing a real blue chipper, he would steer them to ND, so they didn't end up in Ann Arbor . . .

True story.

The funny thing is, the poster has a point. But its irrelevant. Football players aren't sitting around in the library voraciously reading everything they can get their hands on.

If you are talking about the "value" of the degree, the usual measure is reputation in the hiring and grad. school admissions communities. ND beats OSU there pretty handily, with some notable exceptions for a few scattered majors. ND only loses the overall reputation battle to Stanford and Duke (i.e., all else equal, I would rather go into an interview with a Stanford degree than an ND degree, but an ND degree rather than an OSU degree).

But if you are leaving reputation aside, and talking about commitment of the school and staff to making sure you actually take real classes, and actually study, and actually graduate, ND wins even bigger. ND beats everyone in this department.

Indeed, though between ND Stanford and Duke, Duke is behind both Stanford and ND. Between SU and ND, it's probably Stanford by a little bit, but it also depends on the degree. Certain jobs will favor a ND degree over Stanford, and vice-versa, but if all else equal, yeah, probably the tree.

Bogs, I've heard the same story......and it came from an Ohio State fan, who is awfully damned knowledgeable about college football.

Oh, great. I only have old stories. At least I have the inside track; from fifty years ago!
