interested to see how recruiting in TX goes since Cooks is gone(and with OU, which recruits heavily in DFW/TX). so much talent here, and sine TAMU went to SEC, those teams are swarming in here like bees on honey.

From what I gathered, there isn't much on his grades that causes concerns. He doesn't have the classes yet to get in, but that's generally the case for all ND targets. Keep a close eye on him, but I don't see academics being a hurdle. Kid seems like a hard worker.

You asked about the pessimism and that's why. I respect him being a hard worker and hope for the best but grades are a bigger hurdle then you're making it appear. The articles that will be put out over the coming months will keep you hanging on the hope that he can get clear and maybe he eventually does but from legit 'sources', unlikely.

I always leave the door open because you just never know but I wouldn't get too caught up into him.

I have a feeling that Sanford and Lyght will be just fine down there. The unfortunate thing is that Charlie Strong is getting kids to stay in Texas. There isnt too much any school can do if Texas is keeping kids home.

I question your 'sources' then, because at this point, you simply cannot make that prediction. It's no wonder why we don't know about these until later in the year. You just cannot predict a kids academic status until he is closer to the end of his 2nd to last semester. You can't do the same with a kid who hasn't even finished his 3rd year.

Pardon me for being confused. Who are we talking about having a courses problem, King or Madubuike?

King is who they're talking about. Hopefully he gets it all straightened out cuz I think we'd all love to have him end up Irish.

Was offered by Bk who and that made an impression on him. His father was very excited to hear the news and he said that he's definitely going to visit this spring or summer. He's a top of the board prospect and one that Irish247 thinks we're going to go after very hard. However, I have seen him say that he'd like to play close to home even though his parents are fine with him going wherever he's comfortable. Also, not sure if its been pointed out but he's a friend and teammate of Ronald Jones from last years class.

Madubuike Looking for Right Fit

Justin Madubuike from McKinney (Texas) North is one of the more sought after defensive ends in the country.

Offers have rolled in from schools such as Alabama, Auburn, Baylor, Florida, Florida State, Miami (Fl), Michigan, Mississippi, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, TCU, Texas, Texas A&M, UCLA and USC.

"It is kind of crazy right now," Madubuike informed. "I am just trying to soak it all in and being humble about it."

At 6-foot-4, 259-pounds the Scout four-star rated defensive end actually lined up at defensive tackle for the Bulldogs last season.

Still he had a monster season, collecting 74 tackles, 35 tackles for loss, 16 1/2, sacks, four forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, one punt block, and one field-goal block during McKinney North's 11-3 run.

He will be an even more valuable component this season.

“They are going to be moving me around this year, I do not know exactly how yet, but I am going to be wherever coach needs me to be and I am going to work hard at it," Madubuike said.

“I have definitely gotten faster and quicker and I feel like I have become a better leader, but I am not going to be content about it. I am still going to still try to lead by showing these guys the right way and being the voice."

"So everything is going well and I am feeling confident.”

He has not yet narrowed down his list of offers, as he is considering all of them right now. But time is running out quick as signing day in February approaches.

He will soon make a top schools list in preparation to narrow his choices so that he can schedule his official visits.

"Yeah," Madubuike answered when asked if that was his plan. "I am just living day-by-day. I am just taking it one day at a time. It might change tomorrow. You never know."

"I am just going to take it slow and hopefully make my decision by the end of my senior year or if not before then.

"This summer I am going to take some visits," Madubuike continued. "Some far away and some close. I am just going to enjoy it because I is not something that happens for everybody.

"Definitely I want to fly up to Notre Dame and see what that is all about. I want to see the schools in Texas. I want to fly out to California – those guys are pretty cool. USC and UCLA. I just want to go see schools that I can touch down real quick and just my 10 toes on it and see what they are all about."

Texas was his newest in-state offer. And he spoke quickly about his interest in that offer, but also pointed out quickly that he has equal relationships with Baylor, TCU and Texas A&M.

"Most definitely a school I am considering. Charlie Strong is a great coach and I have always stayed in touch with them," Madubuike informed.

"I have also always stayed in contact with them all. Coach (Jim) Gush from Baylor, Gary Patterson from TCU and coach (Terry) Price from A&M, so it is all about even. I am not jumping on any bandwagon at all right now."

Last year Madubuike saw to of his friends and teammates commit early and them flip late. Ronald Jones flipped from Oklahoma State to USC and Bryce Balous flipped from Kansas State to Oklahoma State.

He is trying to take what he learned from those recruitments and work them into his own.

"I am not going to decommit," Madubuike stated. "I want to take my time. I just want to take my time and when I really commit it is an I meant to commit and its not really just a fluke."

if there was ever a position that we as a staff could honestly sell early playing time, i would think it would be DE

Love his tape. Maybe not world-beating at any one particular thing but is one of those guys that is just really just does everything you want from a strongside DE. Could definitely see him sliding into 3-tech on passing downs at the college level.

Didn't realize Ronald Jones was his teammate, goddamn I wanted him on the team.

My brain translates his name to Marmaduke.

Tom Hammond, don't weep. You look creepy enough without your mascara running down your face.
