ND Men's Basketball 2014-15 Season

There are a bunch of teams that win with good students. Even Kentucky's Trey Lyles had a 3.8 in high school. Emeka Okafor won a national championship, went #2 in the NBA Draft, and was an Academic All-American. Marcus Paige at UNC has a 3.4. Jabari Parker graduated 18th and went to Duke. It's a very weak excuse.

I think it comes down to no sweet 16's... Most elite level players see themselves going to school for 1 or 2 years. They want to win. ND hasn't shown they can win in the tourney... One long run changes that perception

Though to be fair, we didn't look all that good against Tech either (both games). That being said, no excuse to not be 27-4 to end the year.

You're right we did not look good against Ga Tech. That said I have watched Louisville play UK, Western Kentucky, Ga Tech, and 'Cuse along with parts of some other games and each time their offense looked atrocious. From early in the season until now they have shown themselves to be a poor offensive team.

Seriously, Marcus Paige is an extremely intelligent kid. Just because the school had the academic scandal don't lump every student into it.

Pretty much this. Tournament flameouts can be even worse than missing the tournament, IMO. There's the rebuilding part or restoring history. Teams like Syracuse have gone far recently. No recruit can remember Notre Dame being a contender. They can remember teams like UCLA, LSU, or Illinois making the Final Four.

Grant looks like he's going to get 15 assists if we can start hitting these shots. He's just a split second ahead of their zone whenever he throws a pass.

This has been hard to watch. Their zone has really given us problems. We are supposed to be able to shoot over the top of zone defense.

I can't remember the last time we shot so poorly. We were 4-23 at one point.

Also, #14 Maryland took down #5 Wisconsin. That's probably just bad for us honestly.

Eh I don't know if the zone was the problem. They missed a lot of good looks, especially early then it seemed like guys got a little gun shy. Vasturia had 4 wide open looks and wasn't close on any of them. They'll be fine if they can hit shots.

Well that was a rough half offensively. Vasturia driving on Christmas to force his third foul seemed like it would be huge then we failed to score for like 5 mins. Nice run to close out the half. Only down 5 after such a poor shooting half is great. We played some good defense in the first half and I feel like we will shoot MUCH better in the second half. Should win this one, just have to start making some baskets.
