Baffles me that they do not know how to properly breakdown a 2-3 defense.

This is probably one of the worst officiated games I've ever seen. Between refusing to call #5 on christmas for god knows how long, to that clusterfuck just now, this is so frustrating.

Syracuse definitely got the benefit of the calls tonight. But terrible shooting, stupid turnovers and the inability to break the zone also doomed them.

Just no energy the whole game. From the team or from the crowd. Pretty annoying.

3-22 on our 3s tonight. Nice.

I can't believe we just lost to a team that has been pretty bad all year and can't even go to the tourney. WE JUST LOST AT FUCKING HOME

Im not even gonna get myself excited because we will lose in the first round, just like every year.

Seemed like the entire roster except for colson had whatever sickness connaughton had last week. Not a very inspiring effort tonight. Did Beachem play at all in the second half? Vasturia gave them nothing tonight.

Going into tonight, Cuse was 4-6 their last 10 games....with 3 of those wins coming against BC and VA Tech....fml

Meh. Meaningless regular season basketball game. Seeding does not matter past the 2 line... it's your draw that matters.

As an aside, one of the worst officiated basketball games I've seen in a long time.

Painful offensive game. We cannot beat 'Cuse without hitting a respectable % from 3 to loosen that damn zone. Fun to see Auguste and Colson sharing the floor a little bit. Also finally have ESPN3 thanks to DirecTV finally getting their shit together. Bad way to christen it but glad I was able to see the game.

Agree on officiating too. Usually don't like to go there but damn there were some bad calls and thought we were getting mugged all night.

This is what I'm expecting. A lot will depend on the matchup, but ND bball has a lot in common w/ ND fball...they can''t put away inferior talent & in some cases they can't beat inferior teams. Their defense is nonexistent & if they're shooting is off, they'll lose in the first round. I remember when I though Digger Phelps was satisfied w/ just getting to the Tourney in his final years. Now I realize that his accomplishments are underappreciated considering the field was smaller. For Brey not to get to the Sweet 16 at a minimum should be a disappointment but they're so accustomed to playing below their level of competition in the Tourney under Brey that I'll be shocked if they make the Sweet 16. The sad thing is that this is probabaly the best shot Brey has had at a S16.

Well. 3 or 4 seed minus an ACC Tourney win...?

A loss to Louisville will lend itself to a 4 seed. Appears they will need both regular season games and at least 1 win in the ACC to get a shot at a 3 seed. RPI ranking will probably kill them.

True. They'll probably go 1-1 in the ACC tourney. The key will be who they draw in the first round of the NCAA Tourney. Outside of KY, this is anybody's tournament to win. Hell, Sparty may be an 8-9 seed...how would you like to bust your ass all year, make the Tourney & get them in the first round?

Walked, moving pick, and a foul when no contact was made. On top of the push on Vasturia. Wow

Refs really dropped the ball tonight. That "push" on Vasturia was one of the most atrocious calls I've seen in awhile... literally no contact and the ref couldn't see the play. I'm always very hard on basketball officials because I reffed basketball for about a decade. Cardinal rules of basketball officiating they teach every rookie official:
1) Do not anticipate or assume a violation.
2) Only call what you see.
3) Put yourself in the right position to make a call.

That ref failed all three of those. Put himself in a bad position, couldn't see the play, and then called something he didn't see because he assumed there was contact and not just momentum carrying him out of bounds.

Then the OBVIOUS travel coupled with an OBVIOUS moving screen was absurd on that Syracuse score.

And don't even get me started on Grant's travel in the first half (we got a makeup call immediately after though because the ref knew he missed it) or how Christmas committed about a dozen fouls to get his five.

Refs were inconsistent and missed a bunch of calls both ways... but wow, ND got burned in the last two minutes.

No doubt in my mind they'll lose to Pitino. It may go to quadruple OT, but they'll lose....something about those bastards. It's usually a hard fought game but ND usually falls short.
