I'm officially done with this show. It's been going downhill for a very long time now, and after what happened with how they dealt with Tyrese I cant watch it anymore. Turned it off immediately following that.

I am sure as the season progressses, there will be a lot of tie ins to this episode, but I just thought it left a lot to be desired.

The one aspect I did enjoy was at the end when Beth and the little girls and Bob all were shown without their injuries as Tyrese was crossing over. I thought that was a nice artistic touch.

I wish Tyrese would have gone in a better way. The "I know there are other walkers in the house, but I am going to stare intently at this photograph" attitude was kind of a let down. Hey Tyrese, let's clear the entire house before you drift off in to la-la land staring at shit, okay?!?

I agree that this show has gone down hill quite a bit. I mean this is all we get after a 2 month break??

AMC has totally screwed the pooch with this one. Reeks of suits getting into the kitchen and souring the stew.

Hell, after a great first season they lost the head of the show because they wouldn't approve a healthy budget. Granted they just got him back, but the trajectory was already established. It's like getting a pilot when your aircraft is in a nose dive. All there is, is to pull up hard and hope for the best.

Ever wonder why there was a whole season on a farm that was completely underwhelming? AMC shooting the show [budget] in the foot right out of the gate.

It's not worth watching.

Geez fellas... I didn't expect to see so much hate on this episode. I thought it was good and a different artistic touch we haven't seen in this series.

Per Talking Dead, things are only going to get harder as they exist without a safe living area (farm, jail, etc). So have fun watching something else, fellas. Sounds like this season is going to be pretty action packed, and y'all are going to miss it.

Are you talking about Frank Darabont? I'm confused.

Based on this board and others boards I've been on the fans weren't that happy. Walking Dead always seems to finish decent at mid-season breaks and end of season, but they start really slow often times. Some of the writing is just bad...the Tyreese death certainly was. C'mon...silent house and he doesn't hear a walker come up behind him? From what others have said, viewers don't seem to care for dream sequences or hallucinations based on Dallas, LOST and the Sopranos. Maybe the hallucinations were a way to get a final tribute to some of those actors that showed up, but it didn't do anything to advance the story.

I am not among those who say they will not watch, but they have added way too many commercial breaks. And I think they need to have a more identifiable goal at this point. I know the mid-season finale threw things into flux, but hopefully next episode a decision is made of what they aim to do now. I guess they are heading to Washington, D.C., although I am a little leery of that choice if they trying to get away from brain-dead creatures feeding on the less fortunate. :)

It sounds like they're following the general story of the comics, more or less. Some good characters/storylines happen if they get to DC. I'm not confidant that the writers will pull it off though, and I'm not sure AMC will be able to...show some of the characters that are part of that story...at least not depict them in all their glory.

Yes, I am. I had read somewhere months and months ago that they had reconciled, but that clearly didn't happen (had to do some googling). Here's some nice quotes:

Wikipedia said:
In July 2011, Darabont was fired from the position as showrunner.[25] Initial reports suggested that he was unable to adjust to the schedule of running a television series;[25] however, it was later confirmed that he was fired due to the show's reduced budget (twice as many episodes for 20% less of a budget) and his strained relationship with the executives of AMC

As ND fans we should not be complaining about to many commercial breaks, and repeating ideas (seasons)

Agreed. I had just said to my wife how dull the show was. Then a clean dressed stranger appears and proclaims friendship. I expect a weird twist from here.

Can't stand the down hill fall of this show. But just like many shows, there are declines before it picks back up. It's been dull for many seasons though. Just really sad the way the show has turned out after such an awesome first two seasons (maybe 1.5 seasons). I will still watch every Sunday though. Mostly because I have always been so interested in the Zomies Apocalypse.

The show is largely about how ppl deal w/this reality. Most of the time, they do a kind of shitty job with that, like with Rick's arc over a few seasons. Then, they throw in some blood n guts to keep ppl who are really just interested in zombie flicks interested. W/e, it is what it is

As I've said before, I think they show isn't all that great. But, these last 2 eps did ok in showing ppl that can and can't deal with it (and really, the Dawn arc, as well). You pretty much knew Tyreese really didn't have what it takes to survive. The life he wanted and tried to lead was incompatible with survival in the ZA. But now, everyone yelling at their tv for him to off that fucker from Terminus in the cabin knows why he couldn't, what weighed on him every time he had to confront the shittiness of the ZA. That's why I thought it was an ok ep.

This week, I thought they did all right showing how surviving the ZA is the long fight. It's a long road and it's shitty traveling. Ppl you care about will die. You're probably going to die. You want to die. But, you keep going, doing what you have to do (bark! bark!) and you live your shitty existence with the help of good ppl. You all do your best and keep going and sometimes random good shit happens. Pretty rare, tho.

I mean, we the audience know all this stuff, the show really isn't all that deep. But, I thought showing some of the characters finally coming to grips with it (especially Darryl who, even after dealing with Merle and his upbringing, never showed this) made it an ok ep.

W/e, shit's about to heat up, anyway.

If you are up to spead on the comic then you know whats next. The interesting thing is that the show runners have to put filler episodes in to not only keep the show moving but to not out pace the comic. What better than to put character development and "struggle" episodes in.

This last episode was pretty good in the way that I think everyone was starting to question themselves as to why bother any more. No food, no water, still having to fight small hordes and maintain energy all while trying to walk to DC.

Its by no means on the level of Breaking Bad or other great series, but I still find it to be a good show.

After watching years' worth of anime, I pretty much have come to terms with the fact that 90% of anything based on a comic will be filler. Especially when you have limited amounts of actual plot to work with before you reach the same point as the comic. However, this show is doing a pretty good job with the filler episodes, they aren't completely fluff and they're trying to push some of the character's personalities along. If you've watched any anime at all you know what filler really is... it's so much worse than these last few episodes.

I am just so incredibly tired of Rick. He's doing the whole Christian Bale Batman dialogue thing and it's getting old. Being a "badass" doesn't require a raspy voice.

I thought last nights episode was dragging along. Then a clean, well shaved guy pops out of a forest and asks to speak to Rick. Suddenly you know something bad is about to happen haha.

I get a sense that the next few episodes will be a turn for the better for the group. After losing Beth, then Tyrese & then see how low the group had sunk w/ lack of food, water, etc....it's about time for a pick me up. I'm anxious to see if this Aaron character is friend or foe. I saw the preview for next week's episode & the group is definitely assuming he's a foe....can't blame them at this point.

In the Talking Dead episode after the season premier, the director, Greg Nicotero said that things will be getting worse for the group this season. He said to expect a lot of chaos as we know things don't go well in this world when you are on the road.

So I wouldn't hold your breath for a "pick me up".

If they're following the comics, it's going to be a roller coaster this season. Since Nicotero already said things will be getting worse for the group this season, I don't think it's any kind of spoiler to say that the characters will probably face their toughest obstacle yet. With the bad comes the good though, that's where the roller coaster comes in. Everything since Terminus has kind of been a let down, imo, and things will have to get good before the bad comes...but the bad is going to be awesome.

Agreed, but I was just talking about the next couple of shows...definitely not the entire season. There's no question that more will die & they'll continue suffering hardships but I sense some false confidence coming as the story line allows for some glimmers of hope.

Rick and crew will be forced to do Common Core math problems.

If it's any consolation to those that grow bored with the show during most of the season, the writers do a craptacular job creating new stories/content. When they follow the comics they seem to do a good job, IE the cannibals, the Governor and the Prison, pretty much all of Season 1, some of Season 2 at the farm, etc. When they throw together these original storylines, like the entire 2nd half of season 4 as the group is split up and heading towards Terminus...or the Gorvernor and Andrea arc...or the Governor and his new group...or Beth and the hospital....all that was original bullshit they wrote for TV.

Rick and crew will be forced to do Common Core math problems.

Well...maybe not that bad...but things are eventually going to get pretty bad and it should be awesome.
