Honestly, I see Alford's relationships benefiting ND moreso than O$U. Alford wasn't selling just himself to these kids, but the University of Notre Dame. Now he has to sell an entirely different product. Regardless, he's gonna get guys b/c the product he's selling is a defending national champion. Let's just say, hypothetically, Denson gets hired. He has all those open doors thanks to Alford, and those kids know the product ND is selling. Now this depends on whoever is hired to recruit that region (presumably Denson if hired), but the opportunities have been planted for ND thanks to Alford.

I think Alford allows OSU to go I to Florida and take kids from FSU and UF. He is going after SEC type kids... Those kids hardly ever come to ND anyways.

You mean like Folston and Bryant and Dexter Williams and Tevon Coney? They'd all be considered "SEC type" kids had they picked their other top choice instead of us.

I wouldn't understate the impact this could have on our recruiting in Florida. At least for a year or two. The universe of elite Florida recruits who are willing to go north to play ball in the first place isn't that large. He knows who they are. And many won't likely make nearly as big a distinction between ND and OSU as we do - aside from the fact that OSU just won the national championship and we went 8-5.

That said, the right hire (Denson?) could potentially be able to pick up where Alford left off. As others have said, Tony sold the school, and the school isn't going anywhere.

Essentially what I'm getting at. Denson, who's practically the frontrunner at this point, has instant credibility the instant he steps through the door. No offense to Alford, he's a really good recruiter, and can sell the values of ND well, but no one can sell ND quite like someone who's been there and done that. It also helps that that "someone" is ND's all-time leading rusher.

Denson would be perfect. From Florida, former RB, played in the NFL and an alum of the school. Not to mention my child hood hero.

For those not sold on Quinn should know this...As a former GVSU Alum and ties with CMU alum and players, Quinn is the only one BK trusts to run the offense without getting too involved. The high octane offenses that Kelly had at Cincy was very much a byproduct of Quinn's play calling ability. I do agree that he lacks the recruiting skills and at times can be seen as standoffish. If we can get him and Gran This would be a huge get for ND. Our recruiting in FL would be just as good, if not better. Lyght's presence in the west coast is underrated in my opinion and many ND Fans will soon become enamored with him. I say bring Quinn to be the OC/QB Coach(understanding that Kelly will still handle most of the QB stuff), Bring Gran in and make him Asst. HC/RB Coach and Recruiting coord. give him double what he makes now, Lastly, Give Denbrock Co-OC/passing game coordinator along with WR Coach title, he will be fine with that. Again, just one fans opinion.

Assoc. HC at Florida State. 15 years in the SEC before that. Two decades recruiting South Florida. That's a fairly impressive resume.
Do we have room for him, Quinn and Denson?

We do. I just don't think he'll come. Hope so.

There are articles out there of him interviewing for the UAB job in Jan 2014. Why would a guy looking a HC position take a demotion from Cinci OC to ND RB?

I don't think we know exactly what title he will have yet? Maybe he is going to be the RB Coach/Ass't Head Coach? Would that really be a demotion for him, going from Cincy to ND?

Incredible he got the number 30 WR in high school football to come to FSU. Wow, almost like getting Trevor Ruhland to come to ND

He was actually the number 20th WR, ranked 125th total as a prospect, and was the best WR in the country last year.

I just think Gran is set up too well at UC, with the current state of their offense, to leave a coordinator position for a RB coach position. I understand the "associate HC" title looks like it helps that, but at this point in his career, that title doesn't mean that much, like it did for Alford.

Sorry, who is Gran? If it is who I think it is, she does make some kick ass cookies.

My dear (departed) mother proudly adopted the "Gran" moniker since my own "Nana" was alive and well when her first grandchild was born.

She, too, made kick ass cookies.

Her broiled chicken left something to be desired though.

Does the Gran thing have legs? Seems it would be a grand slam hire for the position. I really like Denson for the job, but if we can land Gran, seems his ties to S. Florida could be too good to pass up. Man, let's just get one of these guys. Would be too good to be true.

I have a question, why hasn't this thread's title been changed? Hasn't Quinn already been officially announced?

Add the responsibilities and title of Recruiting Coordinator and maybe you've got something.

NO it's not...the same day this was put out the scoop also had this to say

Notre Dame: There was a report this morning that former Buffalo head coach Jeff Quinn was joining the Notre Dame staff as quarterbacks coach. We have reason to believe that report is not accurate.

My bad, no need to yell. Seems to me that Scout would confirm prior to putting that out. Perhaps another outlet jumping the gun. Consider brakes pumped.

wasn't yelling...but the previous posts were all about whether it was official or not...the title of what you posted is old but also isn't stating it was official...so i wasn't sure where you got it's official
